Noticed this the day after I bought it. I gave it 1,000 miles because I figured it might just need some break in time. Went back to the dealer and one mechanic thought something was clearly wrong. His boss came out and said "Nothing wrong"! He said you don't know anything about CVT's obviously. I got pissed and pointed at my Prius C and said you see that there?! That's my 3rd Prius! That car has 65,000 miles on it and the other ones had more. I understand CVT's just fine and my Prius C doesn't do this. I also said "None of your other Outbacks do this. He denied that. I said Prove it and I tried 3 other 2015 Outbacks on the lot including a same year beater Outback they let customers borrow. Same trim level and NONE of them did it. They reluctantly agreed to look at it but said if nothing was wrong they might have to charge me.
I came back a couple hours later and they said it's in Spec, nothing they could do. Subaru allows 1.5 seconds for the car to shift from D to R or R to D.
When I got home I contacted Subaru of America after looking for their number online because the dealership refused to provide it. I was given a case # and told they'd get back to me which they did more than 2 weeks later.
All they said was "The car is in Spec" Nothing we can do.
This is my last Subaru, Dealer Service and Customer Service is Horrible! I never should have left Honda and Toyota! Lesson learned!
The only car I ever had do this was a car I paid $500 for in the late 1970's and that car had 180,000 miles on it. The transmission slipped liked this before it bit the dust.
Subaru thinks it's customers are idiots. I'm probably going to take a bath trading it in, but I'd rather have a Toyota or Honda over this POS!

The dealership said it's the nature of the CVT transmission. Something about the fluid needing to warm up (I live in Georgia so I feel sorry for the folks in the north). Even on 80 degree days there's a hesitation--just not as bad. I would say it's a design flaw. This is my first Subaru and I'm disappointed.

Have explained to dealer (Gerald Jones) with answers like: " it's the nature of the beast"." it's not a gear transmission" "the computer may adjust it"

I will take it to the dealer and update the results here after having the car checked.
