IN ADDITION TO THE GPS FREEZING UP, EVERYTHING IN THE RADIO CONSOLE STOPS WORKING, INCLUDING THE CLOCK AND EVEN THE VENTILATION BLOWER. TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM I STOP, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART THE ENGINE AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING AGAIN, BUT ONLY FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 10 MILES OR SO. IF ONLY THEY HAD INSTALLED A "SYSTEM REBOOT" BUTTON I WOULDN'T HAVE TO STOP AND START TO GET IT TO WORK.
I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER (HOLMGREN SUBARU IN FRANKLIN, CT) SEVERAL TIMES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD SUBARU IS WORKING ON IT AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK WHEN THEY RECEIVED A FIX FROM SUBARU ... I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE THAT CALL.
IN THE MEANTIME WHEN WE TRAVEL WE TAKE ALONG OUR MORE RELIABLE GARMIN GPS AS A BACKUP. WE PAID A LOT (TOO MUCH) FOR THIS INTEGRATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM, IT'S UNFORGIVABLE THAT SUBARU WON'T (OR CAN'T) FIX IT. OTHER THAN THAT I LIKE THE CAR, BUT WHEN THE NEW CAR MODELS COME OUT THIS FALL I MAY VERY WELL CONSIDER A DIFFERENT MAKE AS A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE.

The GPS navigation system would just "freeze up" and quit working. The clock would also freeze at the same time. the dealer did a software update- did not help. This was a random and intermittent problem that happened over the course of 12 months. They replaced the navigation radio system- and it did not fix the problem. I was requested to turn the stereo off x 10 times then bring the car into the dealer within 5 days.

gps gives bad routing info
GPS often literally routes you in a circle no where close to the destination.

First the system was upgraded. Didn't work. System replaced. Again didn't work.Back to Subaru March 8, 2017, March 19, April 14, April 28, July 24, Dec. 1, Dec. 26 and again Jan. 26, 2018. I was told the last time the car was in the problem was fixed. A few days later I took a road trip and called Subaru service from the road to tell them the system was not working and the fix was worthless. The unit was replaced three times and software was updated 7 times. Subaru North America didn't care if it was fixed or not. Never received a call or e-mail from them. The 2018 has the same problems. You would think they could fix it in two years. Took the car into a Subaru dealer in another state and he told me the problem with the system was country wide and the unit had to be replaced.
