When the car is put into D or R, the transmission won't engage for 3 or so seconds. Once it does, it jumps or lunges into gear. It's very annoying and dangerous. A week after we leased the car, I brought it back to the Santa Monica Subaru and was told by the service gal that that issue was 'normal'. That it's a 'Subaru thing.' That was a tremendous disappointment. Having read many message boards, it seems that many are annoyed by the problem and when reported, disappointed in Subaru's response.
