This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Subaru dealer.
On a brand new car the liftgate opens of its own accord, twice in February 2018. My dogs were not in the car. Imagine you are just nipping into the shops, it opens and the dogs run riot on the highway. Search Google "lift gate problems Subaru Outlook", it is not the only problem you get with them. Sometimes they will not open up, sometimes they will not shut. Crazy and immensely dangerous.

We've had repeated electrical problems. The tailgate opens up. We lose our site indication. We also have other issues with the tailgate not responding to pushing the button on the internal control panel. Sometimes it doesn't work when we push it from the outside we have to bring our key fob back to where it's at and the battery is good in the fob it's new.
We also have other electrical issues. The battery went completely dead I replaced. It went to O'Reillys in Branson bought a new battery that match the battery. I replaced it myself, I contacted Subaru and Springfield Missouri they were absolutely worthless and helping me with the problem they gave me no information on the issues of the electrical problems. Experienced by Subaru Outback 2018 we have a major concern about the electrical and down the road with a warranty is off. Our opinion is the vehicle is substandard it does not fit what we bought. We bought a vehicle that was not designed to have these kind of electrical issues, not very happy with Subaru at this time it's my second Subaru very possibly could be my last Ron Lewis here Kayla Lewis, my wife, and our daughter, Kara, as witnesses to all the above.
