Outback Limited 3.6r

  • CVT transmission
  • 48,500 miles

I have a 2018 Outback Limited 3.6r we bought new ; 48K at present, all automatic eyesight, lane assist are turned off. The issues have been happening but getting worse, I didn't report before but now feel I have to.

While driving, the car steering feels loose as if I'm driving a car from the 70's with those huge steering wheels moving all around. The car jerks itself to right or left, wanders towards center lane, and feels like hydroplaning but I am on dry roads, with no winds.

I thought it was the tires on my car as I had just replaced the originals, after less than 8000 miles on these tires I replaced them with different tires. Sadly I am still seeing the same issues.

The wandering / hydroplaning feeling has been an occasional feeling which pretty much started after the first year probably less than 15K miles. At first it was just a once in awhile feeling of my car drifting, and wandering towards the center lane, just like a hydroplaning feeling. When it first starting happening, I thought it I had possibly imagined it, but even my husband had felt the car move itself over.

Adding to the wandering, the steering feels loose, and feels as if its hard to correct movements. This steering issue has been happening more, and after last night's hour drive home I am convinced it's not me. I was leaving town with speeds between 30-40 mpg when I felt the steering wheel jerk before moving to the right.

Once on the highway it was much worse, every few miles my car would pull itself and move to either right or left and sometimes both ways, when it jerked both ways, the steering felt harder to stay going straight. Several times I was riding the center lane.

I was very afraid and thought my wheel bolts were loose. I was in heavy traffic at highway speeds and had to slow down under 60 mpg as it seems to be happen more faster I went.

With the heavy traffic and me going 10 miles an hour slower, not only was I was afraid to drive but I was afraid someone was going to hit me, after work rush people are in a hurry - plus its dark!

After searching on these issues I am seeing the same issues being reported I am having, this is a VERY VERY serious issue and needs to be addressed asap! I have not heard of any accidents but the way my car drives now, I am now very fearful of getting into an accident and afraid to drive my car.

It is winter here and it would not take much to get into an accident with this type of erratic behavior.

Please help to get Subaru's immediate attention to find a fix for this soon.

I see that Subaru had a Serious Recall for 2016/2017 Legacy and Outback models and owners were told not to drive their cars! I believe this is still an issue! Please help, I cannot afford to lose work or buy another car!
