Outback LS 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

My display system started developing a film on the inside of the screen, then suddenly went bonkers. It constantly switches between audio source inputs - CD/radio/SiriusXM and beeps annoyingly every time. The screen jumps between maps, vehicle maintenance screens, CD and radio screens, etc. The touchscreen works sometimes, but not often, so you can't input oil change data, or change audio via the screen.

Apparently this is a widespread problem in 2019 Outbacks. I've talked to several friends who have the same year as mine and they all have the same problem. The dealership wants $1800 to replace the system, but they are going to replace or rebuild it with the same components, which are already known to fail again. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I really feel betrayed by Subaru.
