I bought my third Subaru Outback in August 2019, a Touring model 3.6L engine. On May 15,2021, my husband and I were pulling into a parking spot that we frequently use at a CVS pharmacy. This is a very congested and small parking lot, going uphill to access. I was going very slow (about 5 mph) pulling into a handicap parking space with my foot on the brake. The car began to accelerate and I said to my husband "What is happening?" and then it hit the handicap pole hard. I had no idea what caused it to accelerate into the pole. Before I turned the car off, it was revving like it wanted to keep going. Eyesight did not warn me of an impending collision, nor did the auto braking work. Luckily nobody was hurt, just my beautiful car.

The radiator leaked all the fluid out and so we had to call a wrecker. It was towed to the shop waiting for repairs when on June 2, I checked my Starlink app on my phone. It had a message that My Eyesight System light was on. I printed out a copy and called Subaru customer service. They opened a case and I was assigned a personal representative. The company decided to send an engineer from Dallas to inspect the car, which had most of the repairs made. The repairs were extensive, new radiator and compressor, complete new front end, hood and also some frame repairs. I was shocked at how much damage there was.

On June 23, 2021, the car was inspected by the engineer and of course it was found to have no defects. I was told by my service representative that the computer report showed 5 seconds of braking and 1.5 seconds of acceleration immediately prior to the crash. This makes no sense to me that I would take my foot off the brake and onto the accelerator to crash it into a pole. I asked for a copy of the computer report but of course the service rep did not have it nor did he know who I could contact for it.

I have considered joining the class action lawsuit but I don't know how to do that. There is something fishy here and although I am driving the car, I am worried. I have read the complaints from other owners with the same issue and it sounds just like the one I experienced. Now I have car with 13000 miles on it and a carfax report with an accident. We are very distraught over this and would like to hear from others that have had the same problem.
