This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Subaru dealer.
It seems when car is riding on or approaches uneven or bumpy pavement the steering floats. I had a 2003 Outback with over 100,000 miles & never had any problems with the steering. I called Qwerk Subaru dealership and they said this problem is not on recall. It sure as hell should be! They also lied and said they knew nothing about this problem when it's all over the internet)!!! I looked this up on other websites and found a replacement part to fix this problem at perin.com. I think Subaru should own up to this problem and fix it at their cost and quit lying that they don't know about this problem. This car was bought new in 2019 with no accidents and low mileage - this shouldn't be happening!!! Thanks for listening for what it's worth.

I have never had a car with as poor of steering control as this one. At highway speeds on good roads the random feeling is that you are hydro planing on dry pavement. This occurs when I have the lane departure control turned off. Without moving the steering wheel, the car will shift in the lane without warning. Most often to the right. It becomes very unstable in cross winds. I have had the car for just a couple of months and thought it might get better but it is still the same after about 4500 miles. I don't know if Subaru changed the steering in the last couple of years but have talked to owners of model years 2018 and 2019 who have experienced the same problem.

Unfortunately Mitchell Subaru, in Canton, CT took a short test drive on 4/16/19 and could not feel the wobble, so no repairs have been made. This condition is very annoying and has happened numerous times in the past. My daughter (who owns a 2010 Subaru Outback) drove it yesterday and felt the wobble too.

Based upon the Subaru review in the Consumer Reports April Auto Issue, I purchased a 2019 Outback. There is a problem with the steering. It has about thirty degrees of play. It does not stay in the center of the lane. Constant correction is needed. The service department told me that there is nothing wrong with the steering. I just had to get used to driving with the Subaru “eye sightâ€. Driving on the interstate is stressful to say the least. On a trip to Tampa on I-275 almost side swiped another car. From the replies from two Subaru service departments, it appears that they are aware of the lousy steering, but will not do anything to fix the problem. This definitely will be my last Subaru. I want to puke each time I see a Subaru ad on television.
