My windshield cracked within 8 months of purchasing the 2021 Subaru Outback. It happened while driving on the highway. That being the case I naturally assumed it was a rock chip, however there were no other vehicles on the roadway at the time. I filed an insurance claim and had the windshield replaced. My cost was my $250 deductible. Thirty six days later the newly installed windshield cracked again in exactly the same place as before (in black area surrounding the outer rim of the Windshield). This time however I was in a parking lot with no other moving vehicles, including my own. My certified auto body repairman reported that in both instances it appeared to be a stress fracture. The local Subaru dealer has all kinds of excuses for not accepting my request for replacement under the warranty. I'm still trying to work with the local dealer, but my patience is running out.

First replacement about a month ago was caused by a pit. A week after windshield was replaced, I heard a loud pop while driving and the windshield cracked from the wiper area up, It wasn't fixed yet but while it was parked in a lot the crack got bigger. It looks like the windshield is pretty thin based on seeing the crack.
