WRX 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 51,000 miles

purchased USED car, had car 3 days, and clutch started SQUEALING. took it to SUBARU for diagnostics... they quoted 1,800 to replace the CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL, PRESSURE PLATE, AND THROW OUT BEARING... received car back, and 6 days later, the same problem happens again..

i take it back to the dealer and they tell me, the throw out bearing they installed was recalled due to squeaking, so i need to purchase an updated bearing, and have them install it..

this is a PROBLEM WITH ALL 2015+ SUBARU WRX CARS.... DO NOT PURCHASE A 2015+ WRX... this is a known problem with subaru... MANY MANY COMPLAINTS AND FORUM POSTS ABOUT BAD CLUTCH...SUBARU WILL NOT HELP YOU!!! YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY OVER AND OVER FOR THIS REPAIR!!!! ALERT ALERT, BUYER BEWARE!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE 2015+ WRX!!!!

i paid $26,000 for this car that i will forever have clutch problems with.... subaru knows this is an issue, but refuses to take responsibility... they will blame you for driving the car hard, and never take ownership of faulty engineering.... BUY A VW INSTEAD!!! at least it wont fall apart every 5,000 miles...

WRX Limites 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 1,100 miles

So I purchased a new 16 WRX less than a month ago and at 1100 miles the throw out bearing is making a very loud and noticeable noise. This noise surprised me a great deal as the car had 7 miles when purchased and I have never had an issue with manual transmissions until now. I called my local Subaru dealership and was told there is a three week wait to have the clutch/flywheel/bearing replaced one time as a good faith gesture. I was also told that if it happened again that it would not be covered and all expenses would be out of pocket even if its not my fault. How can a throw out bearing only last 1100 miles? Why would this even be considered abuse or neglect driving? If problem worsens I guess my only recourse is to seek legal council. Apparently Subaru doesn't stand behind their products.

WRX Premium

  • Manual transmission
  • 16,423 miles

Finally got the car back and 1 day later i am hearing clutch noises from the vehicle. Probably the throw out bearing but after spending $2200 for a worn out clutch I find this ridiculous.

WRX Limited 2.0L Turbo

  • Manual transmission
  • 4,100 miles

Car makes a whistling (whirring) sound when the clutch is pressed in. It sounds like high pitched metal on metal. Started at around 4,000 miles and happens on a cold start up. The sound eventually goes away when the car is warmed up. This is my first Subaru so I don't have any first hand reliability experiences with their vehicles but this is not helping.

People are asking me what's wrong with my "New" car already.
