Engine died inexplicably, only 50k-ish miles on engine.

This is the second of 2 inexplicable engine replacements I've had in my Subaru XV Crosstrek, between 60 and 120k miles (after buying it at 60k). I've had 3 Subaru's last til 200,000 miles, but my mechanic tells me they changed the engine in 2011. There is currently a class action lawsuit for this particular engine that seems to be pending. My mechanic tells me you can replace the engine with a FB 2.5- if you are in this situation you should look into that, because I replaced my engine the first time hoping that a new engine at 67,000 miles would make the car last longer.... but only got 40k miles out of that engine.

Don't buy a 2013 XV Crosstrek.
