Car feels like it slips out of gear, sometimes on freeway feels almost like transmission. It is the transmission range sensor and I have almost been rear-ended several times. I just bought a 2007 Suzuki Forenza on March 10th, I drove it from the dealer ship to my home, around 40 miles, drove it at 55 and 45 and 35 all good until the last mile of my journey. I was going a steady 35 and I could tell my car was slowing down without me letting my foot off the gas at all. I let off and reapplied gas and it acted normal for 1/16 of a mile and did it again but when I let off and reapplied it accelerated a little and then slowed down again. I looked at my gages and my tachometer was going from 1500 to 2000 rpms making the car bounce back and forward, and so I let off and reapplied enough times to make it home. I'm lucky there wasn't anyone on the road. And I drove it across a 4 mile long bridge and thank god it didn't happen there! I see that there are alot of complaints ts on this issue and Suzuki is claiming it's routine maintenance.. you never can tell when it's going to go out and some people have to replace them every 9 months.. they should make the part good enough to last longer. It's a safety hazzard in alot of people's opinions. Pulling into heavy traffic can be pretty scary when you don't know if your car is going to move 5 feet and then not register your foot on the gas pedal. It's dangerous.

My daughter (16) was on the highway and the service road when out of no where the car started jerking and slowed speed. She then tried to accelerate and it drug. Instead of catching back up to speed it took a minute to reach the speed. And since then its been very hard to drive. We took it to shop they said I need a new transmission range sensor a brake light switch and an input and output system and a speed sensor. They also said this is a very common issue with Suzuki Forenza. But its very dangerous I do feel that this should qualify for a recall before someone gets killed. Vehicle slips out of drive when accelerating which causes it to lose power during highway driving. Seems to jump to neutral. Loss of speed and at the same time the engine will rev and RPM's will increase. This happens mostly on highway, sometimes on streets. This never happens when accelerating from a stop. This happened for weeks without a check engine light indicator on. Check engine light will only occur when reversing. Mechanic said the issue (P0700 and P0705) indicates a transmission sensor issue which is not covered under warranty. There are hundreds of Suzuki message forums and other complaints on this issue on the internet. I contacted Suzuki american headquarters and they claim to have no knowledge of this issue. This is a heavily hazardous issue that needs to be addressed before someone, hopefully not myself, dies.

We just bought this car in August 2012. Since then my seat belt button turned on and took it to the Suzuki dealer and they fixed it. Also the passenger air bag also and they fixed it. Then took it to the dealer to get the oil changed and they said I had a radiator leak ( I wonder how true was that sometimes) repaired it and it cost $400.... now when I was driving the car check engine light turned on and now it was the gas cap that needed to be replaced!!! wth so we replaced that part. Now after we fix that, guess what also starts happening the car just starts to slow down and again check engine light turns on!!! we take it to get a diagnosis and it gives us P0705 P0700 and that now is the transmission range sensor!!! this is crazy!! hopefully nothing else will go wrong..... I feel that Suzuki should have a recall on this transmission range sensor especially.. as I see...many people are going through this and people should be compensated for the money that we all have wasted and frustration we are all going through.... Suzuki needs to fix this problem...

The car has a big problem changing gear and when I drive sometimes it slows down and couple of times I almost got into accident because of car slowing down and at times when I try to switch gears it clunks so hard and it is becoming very dangerous driving with my kids in the car because either the car wont change gears or looses speed when I am driving and that can cause a big accident and I call Suzuki dealership and its not under warranty, there should be a recall on this vehicle it is very dangerous and they are the ones making poor quality parts for the engine, and from other consumers I am not the only one with the same issue and worries. Please help!

I was driving down the expressway and I was doing 65 mph and my car started stalling as I pressed the gas then I floored the gas because my car was starting to reverse down the expressway all of a sudden my car froze and my computer on my dash had all the letters scrambled for drive, reverse, park etc and had a line through it I was soooo scared I had a big truck behind me.

When turning my car on and putting it into reverse, the check engine light came on and my car jerked into gear and where the R should appear for reverse on the dash, all the letters were scrambled together. The car drove in reverse and then when I put it into drive, it jerked again and then would hardly accelerate. After driving the car for a couple minutes, turning it off, and turning it back on, it would finally accelerate but the check engine light would still be on and the gears would still jerk. The check engine light would go off after a couple days and everything would be fine and then it would all start again. Then my car is starting to switch over into neutral when driving 60mph+ and now it will do this multiple times when driving at any speed. When it switches over to neutral like this while I'm driving, the D for drive on the dash will become scrambled like it does when it jerks into reverse. The problem is getting worse.

When driving my 2007 Suzuki Forenza the engine light comes on and I lose all power in movement. If I stop and start driving again I have to push the gas pedal to the floor to get the car moving again, it takes off very slowly and I cannot get the car to go over 25 miles per hr. When I take it in to a mechanic they run tests but say there is no problem found. I believe this is a manufacturer defect. I have read on the web of many others having the same problem. I fill that this is unsafe and would like this investigated if possible.

Trying to shift into gear the car jerks and the display blinks, not indicating what gear the car is in. The only gears that show are D and P. when trying to accelerate the car moves very slowly and doesn't go any faster than 35-40 mph. Diagnostic test show it is the transmission range sensor. I see that this is a common problem in this model vehicle and thinks it should be recalled and fixed at the expense of the dealer not the consumer. This car has only had problems from the beginning and the manufacturer needs to realize this and assume some responsibility for their product.

While driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, followed by a low power response, the engine warning light illuminated intermittently. An independent mechanic stated that the failure was contributed to the throttle body. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for a second opinion and the technician stated the failure was related to the throttle body and needed to be replaced. The wiring within the throttle body was replaced. The failure continued after the vehicle was repaired. The throttle body has been on back order for quite some time. The vehicle will be repaired when the part becomes available. The contact is aware of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 57,800 and the current mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. Two months after purchasing the vehicle, the contact received a recall notice for the seat belts. The recall repairs were performed, but afterwards the seat belt would not latch for approximately one month. At 7,000 miles, the vehicle speed control became inoperable. At 22,000 miles, the driver's side passenger door latch cracked at the base. As a result, the contact had to roll down the window and open the door from the rear in order to exit the vehicle. The vehicle began pulling to the left while driving between 40-70 mph. An independent mechanic stated that the tire had a hole in it and would be patched. Also, the vehicle needed an alignment and the contact was informed to take it back to the dealer to have the specifications checked when the alignment did not correct the issue. The failure mileage was 7,000 and current mileage was 23,450.
