Just placed new tires on my car as the rear rt., was wearing badly on the outside. 23000 miles on 2007. Suzuki mckinney, stated they were aware that this happens, and they no longer had equipment to do alignments. Had another shop align, and they could not get the car within recommended specs. Spoke to Suzuki, and manager that was aware of problems, no longer works there, new acting manager has never heard of problem. In internet searches, appears that it is rampant with the 2006-2007 models, which appears to be mechanical.

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Grand vitara. The vehicle has yokohama tires, size 225/70/R16 (na). While driving 35 mph, the contact heard a loud roaring noise coming from the tires. The speed was not a factor. After inspecting the tires, she noticed wires sticking out of the tread. All four tires were replaced at the cost of $517. The manufacturer would not assume responsibility for the failure. The contact still has possession of the failed tires. The failure and current mileages were 35,021. Updated 2/17/09 updated 02/19/09.

Needed to replace tires at 14,000 miles. Now after 6,000 more miles, the rear tires are wearing badly again. Found out today that there are several Grand vitara owners in my area with the same problem.

I have vibration when exiting a parking space, or when I stop at a red light, and make a turn. The vibration only happens when turning from a stop position. Everyone is tell me my tires are flat. I dont know what this mean, the dealer said, the vibration is normal. I had cars all my life and never had a car vibe while turning from a stop or getting out of a parking space.
