The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Car would not start battery charged, but next day vehicle battery would be drained again.... headlights work sometimes, and turn signal works off and on...

My 2006 Reno has had airbag light on all the time for years. It has been reset multiple times, only to come on again. What's entirely wrong with the current airbag recall that the NHTSA is currently having is the fact Suzuki ( GM ) is trying to say it only effects grand vitara's and SX4's. I beg to differ. This company new all along the airbag problem existed, just check some of the old Suzuki problem bulletins 4&5 years ago. And it's not only 290,000 vehicles and/or only 2 models. This recall should absolutely be increased to cover Reno's, forenza's etc;. these companies don't buy separate airbag components, they buy bulk ( its just cost effective.) any fifth grader knows that. Again this recall needs to be looked into much further then 2 vehicles. And now with all the dealers gone you have no recourse to solve their inferior components problem, so once again the working man takes the hit ! fyi, rich people weren't buying these cars hard working people were !

So I park my car in the drive way turn it off and take the key out but the car didn't turn off.. it was still running. It turned off when I opened the door, the lights on the dash all stayed on. This happened numerous times. I've had this car since 2006 and have had my share of problems with it.. before this happened I was having issues starting it for about a week.. maybe longer. I would have to start it about 3 times before it stayed on.

For several weeks my car has been clunking into reverse and drive and getting stuck in 3rd gear while driving. I went to Suzuki and bought the transmission range sensor which is what is faulty. The Suzuki dealer was really surprised that we had 71000 miles on the car and had not had a problem yet (they know its a problem) I have not had a chance to change the sensor yet but my wife was driving the car today and when put into reverse the car went forward instead. Luckily there was only a curb that she hit but she could have hit a car or a person. She had to stop somewhere on the way home and had another problem in another parking lot where she shifted into reverse and instead of going forward the car shot out of the stall without her even touching the gas pedal. Again she did not hit anyone but how long will Suzuki let this happen before someone is killed. Also when the car gets stuck in 3rd gear it is very dangerous to pull out onto a road as you can barely accelerate fast enough to avoid oncoming traffic. The sensor will be replaced tonight when I get home but these cars should not be having these problems and according to the mechanics at Suzuki they see this problem all the time. I understand that parts break and cars have to be repaired, but this is something that is so poorly engineered that it is putting the occupants in the car as well as other people in danger. Some people have had to replace their trs over 7 times and Suzuki has yet to issue a recall.

As I was driving I noticed that the headlights were very dim. I pulled over to test my lights and noticed that when I turned on and off the headlights that there was no change in brightness. I turned off the car and turned on the headlights and the lights did not come on. I had been driving with the daytime running lights illuminated only. I did a check online and discovered that there is a recall for my make and model of car. I called the local Suzuki dealership and after giving them my VIN they told me that there was no active recall in effect for my car. I think the recall should be expanded to my car as well. In the interim I am taking my car to the dealership to get the headlamps fixed but it will cost me money to do so.

Was driving on I40 to wilmington, nc from raleigh, nc. I stopped to get gas when I was about 30 minutes away from wilmington. I noticed my dashboard looked like it was jumpy. All the gauge lines were going back and forth. But it lasted only seconds and really I thought...did that really happen. I got back on the road because the car was driving perfectly fine. Once I got into wilmington, the car started smoking from under the hood, the gauges were going crazy. The gauges were just going back and forth and back and forth like they were possessed! the car stalled, I got it off the road as best as possible, raised the hood and small flames were coming out. I took a towel and through it over the motor and it killed the flames. Check oil, it was fine, had plenty of gas. My dad said it looks like it had an electrical failure and then the fan went out and caused the car to over heat and it blew a head gasket. Not sure why it would have had an electrical failure. The car is parked now because I do not have money to fix it. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

My wife has bought this car brand new and seems like its going to be on its third trans and it only has 67000 miles on it. The cars engine lite comes on steady and drives fine for a little bit but after a while the light starts flashing and the car idles rough, goes 0-60 in christmas to next thanksgiving then will not shift correctly. It feels like it is taking off in third gear every time. When it finally gets going it shifts in the 5-7000 RPM range. We have taken it to the shop the first time and they said it was a sensor. They changed the sensor and still the same so they changed the trans at only under 30000 miles. Two days later and 12 miles down the road, the same thing occurs. We took it back to the dealer and they said there is nothing wrong with the car and that we will have to drive it. I have tried to email other dealers and noone will touch it. Now it is doing the same exact thing except the car will just not hardly move. It seems to be fouling out the plugs. I pulled them and they are all covered in fuel. It now feels like its the timing belt that slipped a tooth. Suzuki should stick with making bikes and not cars and maybe have better customer assistance. I am at lost for words or knowledge as to what to do. I feel that we shouldn't have to pay for repairs on something that should be recalled most definitely. It is highly dangerous and shouldn't be on the road. There has been instances where im about to turn left and the car looses power half way through the turn. Please do something about this death trap. My wife totes around other kids in this car for her job. Thank you

Transmission range sensor (also known as trs), check engine light came the code said transmission range problem the next day when shifting the car into reverse and drive there was a very loud clunk and while driving down the street the car dropped into neutral and I couldn't move the car anymore, this is a problem that is more than extremely common on the 2006 and 2007 Reno and forenza but the company will not recall or cover under power train warranty even though the failure prevents the power train from working correctly.

The transmission in my 2006 Suzuki Reno has always felt funky. Last year when I started my car and put the transmission in reverse, it made a loud noise, the gear selector display on the dashboard went all crazy showing all letters (D, N, R), and then the engine light came on. When I drove, the car wasn't working right. It felt like the transmission was all over the place and the car would not accelerate properly. The diagnostic computer showed two codes PO700 and PO705. I had to change the transmission range sensor at my own cost. I have read online forums, and a lot of people who own Reno 2006, 2007 or 2008 have had the same problem. Also people who own Suzuki forenzas 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 models have had this problem.if you google "Suzuki transmission problems", there is a lot of people complaining about the same thing..

1. car hesitates to start in the morning and stalls 2. car dealer states it needs a software part. 3. part installed and nothing but problems after that as well. Car leaked gas, engine light would come on, car again would hesitate to start and would stall. Dealer puts new computer in the new car and the car runs worse than it did before. Engine light comes on and car would stall going down the road and car looses steering when it stalls. Almost in a few accidents due to stalling in the middle of the road. The keep re-flashing the computer and it's not helping.
