As I was driving I noticed that the headlights were very dim. I pulled over to test my lights and noticed that when I turned on and off the headlights that there was no change in brightness. I turned off the car and turned on the headlights and the lights did not come on. I had been driving with the daytime running lights illuminated only. I did a check online and discovered that there is a recall for my make and model of car. I called the local Suzuki dealership and after giving them my VIN they told me that there was no active recall in effect for my car. I think the recall should be expanded to my car as well. In the interim I am taking my car to the dealership to get the headlamps fixed but it will cost me money to do so.

My headlights are shorting out. Mainly the daytime and low beams. I also have a highbeam assembly part that has broken. The lights started to flicker a little now and then. Then it got to the point the low beams just cut out. I am in total darkness. I ran off the road. The highbeams are sometimes affected but usually remain working. However the one high beam does not work due to the fact the internal holder clip for the bulb just broke one day. There is no after market part for this. It is a problem. I am the working poor. I can not afford an other ticket. I already have one for this unresolved problem.

The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Reno. The contact stated that the daytime running lights would remain illuminated all day, but the nighttime lights and high beams were inoperable. Eventually, the vehicle would not start. On July 9, 2008, she discovered two recalls on safercar.gov for the 2006 Suzuki Reno models, one of which clearly stated that the daytime running lights were causing a malfunction (NHTSA campaign id number 07V452000: Exterior lighting). She took the vehicle to the Suzuki dealer and was informed that the recall repair would be covered by the manufacturer, but if not, she would be liable. The dealer stated that the battery needed to be replaced and was unable to determine why the exterior lights were not operating correctly. The manufacturer stated that her VIN was not included in the recall and she would be liable for the repair costs. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 40,900.
