Verona

  • 50,000 miles
My 2004 Suzuki Verona currently has 102,000 miles on it, but started hesitating and stalling at 50,000 miles. Upon stopping at an intersection, the accelerator could be pressed to the floor and the vehicle would hesitate for several seconds and then surge forward. It would also stall at intersections at times. The check engine light would light at times, but not always. The local dealership began addressing this issue at 50,000 miles and followed the repairs approved by the Suzuki rep. This led to the vehicle being in for the same issue at least a half dozen times after the initial repair. Suzuki continued to approve partial repairs, but never approved the complete repair of the issue. This resulted in a recurrence as recently June of 2010, and once again partial repairs were approved. Once the vehicle passed the 100,000 mark in September, the issue occurred again, but Suzuki refused any responsibility to further address the issue which left the vehicle un-drivable. The vehicle is currently at 102,000 miles and Suzuki has failed to ever correct the issue, but now will do nothing because the vehicle is out of warranty. Suzuki continued to make partial repairs to my vehicle although they realized that their efforts were failing to correct the issue, and began to do full engine replacements of other Veronas with the same issue.

When driving at slow speeds the engine stalls. Most recently this happened during stop and go driving at about 7 mph. When accelerating out of a stop the car jerks and lunges forward. When driving at highway speeds the car runs rough. When accelerating to higher speeds the car hesitates and jerks. Customer has taken car into 4 different mechanics for these problems - most recently to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the stalling. Various attempts have been made to fix the rough running (spark plugs, alignment correction), but the problem persists.

: the contact stated while stopping at an intersection the engine stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated prior the incident. A recall letter was received in reference to the ignition switch however the recall was not listed in the office of defect investigation database. The dealership performed several repairs but the problem persisted every time the vehicle was stopped at an intersection. There was progressively worsening difficulties to restart the engine. There was also a loud noise in the engine while driving on interstate highways. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twenty times. An attempt was made to pursue the lemon law but advice was provided to give the dealership another attempt to solve the engine defect. The engine was even replaced but the problems persisted. Eventually, the lemon law was no longer applicable because the vehicle had more than 18,000 miles. The dealership finally determined the engine problem was due to defective injectors. The manufacturer was contacted who left the resolution up to the dealership.

2004 Suzuki Verona stalled without warning. Days after the vehicle was purchased it stalled on the freeway. The check engine light illuminated. It's been two years since the first incident yet the dealer still hasn't been able to determine the cause of the problem. The dealer has replaced many components (O2 sensor, throttle body engine coil) but none have rectified the problem.

After fox valley Suzuki reprogrammed my computer due to recall, the engine has a lifter knock, especially after going 55-65 mph on the highway. Sounds like a diesel engine. Took it to the dealer twice, they say that it is normal, but I know that it is not normal. Also when ac is on, there is a whing noise while the car is in motion, dealer claims they cannot hear. Left turn signal sticks, dealer claimed that they fixed, but sticks on during hot weather. I am afraid that the engine is going to blow, I have been driving the car on the highway back and forth to work with the lifter knock. Please help! thank you.

I bought my Suzuki Verona Jan 2004 and had problems from the first week. The radio would not work because they couldn't find the code so they had to take it out to reprogram, the car would not go forward when I hit the gas pedal, the transmission would jerk, then worst of all it would just cut off whether sitting still or in motion. In that six month period, I had to drive 6 loaner vehicles. People began to ask me if I owned a car lot because I was always in a different car! ;O)so I filed a lemon law claim and after 6 months I got a brand new Verona. But the story doesn't end there because after 1 month and a half of my new Verona replacement, it cut off on me while I was driving down the street. Same problem as my first Verona. The thing that got me during my first ordeal was the fact that Suzuki did not believe me which is why I had to go file a claim. But now, from what I have been told this time around, my car along with 3 other Veronas are now sitting in the shop waiting for Suzuki to come and fix them. So I am in loaner car number 7. good luck to you all who have not experience any problems. But if you do, don't let them fool you. I am a witness that this car has major problems. Pe04062_cat
