problem #1

4Runner SR5 Premium V6

  • Automatic transmission

drivers side armrest (possibly all of them, but the drivers side get's used the most) squeaks constantly.

Initially the dealer replaced the original door panel as door panel and armrest all all one piece. that solved it for about 1 year. now the squeaking is back.

according to Toyota(I called them to report it), it's a design flaw. the part itself is not broken, it's just that there is too much give in the armrest pad and it when u put your elbow on it - it rubs on the door panel and makes annoying squeaking sound.

mine happens to be leather interior - so it may not be a problem with cloth interior.

Again - not life or death, but annoying to not be able to put your elbow on the armrest while driving.

the dealer will not replace it again - they are the ones that told me to call toyota to report it. Toyota said there is no fix available at this time.
