I am the original purchaser of a 2017 Toyota 86 which I LOVE, but it has had a "rattle" since new., directly related to revs. Having grown up with all kinds of mostly foreign cars and working on and restoring them with my family, this rattle has always bothered me. I reported it and made sure it was recorded on all the initial services at the dealer from which I purchased the car. No one at the dealership could ever "hear" the rattle, even when I pointed it out to them.

My "mechanical" family & friends easily hear it. At a car show six months after my initial purchase a friend commented on his son's Scion version, which suffered from oil starvation, and we discussed the symptoms, which my car exhibits. Folks at my (and other) dealership claim they "don't see enough of this model to keep track of an issue like this." I enjoy the car, change the oil regularly (I have found Royal Purple oil is helpful, as is STP), and figure I'll drive it until I can't, but I do kind of expect it to have a serious failure someday. It interested me to see this included in a class-action suit, and I was surprised that - as an original purchaser - I had not been contacted.
