S10 appropriate handling re sudden unintended acceleration fm owner of a 2003 Toyota Avalon. While pulling into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, resulting in a serious accident. Updated 10/29/10

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Avalon. While driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to stop the vehicle the contact noticed that the accelerator pedal had become stuck to the floor and the brakes would not engage causing the contact to crash into the rear end of another vehicle. No one was injured. A police report was filed. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileages was 26,245. Updated 04/16/10. Updated 10/05/10

My mother-in-law who always wore her seat belt was driving home at night and somehow ran off the road hit a little cherry tree and was thrown from her car & killed her. The side nor the front air bags went off. And apparently the seat belts failed too. The highway partrol can't figure out what happened.
