After repairs, the contact noticed that when she would drive and remove her foot from the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would stop independently and then proceed as if it were pulling or dragging abnormally. As I continued driving, the brakes continued to fail then I heard a grinding sound and the brake could barely hold. At the time I got home, there was practically no brakes. I had the car towed to a Toyota service center where it was fixed with a cost of $1300. I am yet to pick the car up.

I put the shift in neutral and then in park and then turned the key of and got it by another car and my car still kept going, although it did slow down and stop after being hit. I brought this same car in for the recall fix on Feb 24 2010. And this happened after the recall fix.

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Avalon. While driving at speeds of 35 mph, a vehicle preceeding vehicle depressed the brakes suddenly to avoid hitting an animal in the street. The contact attempted to depress the brakes, however the brakes did not catch in time and she crashed into the vehicle. The police arrived and a report was filed. There were no injuries. On a separate occasion, while driving at speeds of less than 40 mph, a deer ran out in front of the vehicle and she attempted to stop by depressing the brakes. The brakes did not provide adequate stopping and she crashed into a guard rail, causing moderate damage to the front passenger's side. She was involved in two additional crashes where she attempted to depress the brakes and they would not engage or were slow to engage. Neither the manufacturer or local dealer were contacted to report the failure. The failure and current mileages were 108,000.

Parking '05 Avalon when it accelerated & rear-ended a SUV even though I was braking resulting in almost $3000 in damage. It has not happened since. Hoping to have gas pedal repaired at Toyota dealer when available. Was not aware of mfg defect that might have been responsible until recently. Insurance premiums were increased due to 'at fault' clause.

- on 9/24/06 while the contact was driving vehicle at 60 mph and it unexpectedly accelerated to 75 mph. The contact had to apply the brake with both feet to disengage the acceleration on the vehicle. On 10/09/06, while driving on the highway at 40 mph the vehicle accelerated to 75 mph, had to hold both feet on the brake and pull the vehicle off to side of the road. At that point the contact took the vehicle to the dealership, ) and the dealer stated that the gas pedal was most likely getting caught under the carpet. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. While driving on 12/23/06 at 35 mph the vehicle accelerated to 75 mph, after a quarter of a mile contact was able to stop the vehicle by outing both feet on brake. All the brakes were smoking and there was transmission fluid leaking. At that point, contact had the vehicle towed to rosener Toyota. Updated 01/29/07.

Transmission lags then jumps forward, transmission slips at low speeds never seems to find a gear. Steering at speeds below 40 will jerk left or right depending on the road.(scares you to death) brakes have grabbed and jerked the car from day one the dealership ground the rotors to fix this but it has not resolved the problem. The car has had the power steering hose replaced because it leaked and it still does. The cd player skip while your parked, the steering wheel needed to be replaced. We have had this car in to the dealer 5 times with none of the problems to the brakes, transmission, or steering resolved.
