This is a historical. problem with this engine especially after 100,000 miles just pull coil problems with Toyota Avalon. Here is a list of Toyotas I have had and no engine problems sr5 p/u, Celica SR5, 3 Toyota Camrays. I drove these cars over 200,000 miles no problem. So fess up Toyota you make mistakes and in past you improve on fixing your mistakes. I do not care if it's out of warranty. I have been told that the 5 remaining will go out. The coils run 100.00 to 200.00 each labor is around 600.00 in California where I was on a vacation from Oklahoma. Do I have the remaining coils to replace someday?

Update from Dec 9, 2015: I had to have this fixed I was 1200 miles from home on a winter vacation, Firestone replaced one coil and charged me 800.00, I know best policy is to replace all coils. If anymore coils go out this will bie the dust. I'm 67 years old and will never buy another Toyota. I'm on my way home in this car from OK, TX, NM, CO, UT, CA, OR, and back home to OK. Wish me luck on making it back home without car problems.

I am extremely disappointed in Toyota. First the oil line bust in October and now this! And all on a car in otherwise perfect condition with only 62,000 miles. The problem with the Sensors and Manifold are apparently common for the 2005 Avalon - so why hasn't anything been done about this??! The problem was the check engine light codes = p0138 o2 sensor/p2195 af sensor. I fear that there are more expensive issues to come.

We have always owned Toyotas as well as Chevys with no problems at all - until now. Our Camry has almost 200k and have had no issues! The Avalon has by far been my favorite car. Am now looking at Hyundai equivalents. Our family has definitely lost faith in Toyota.
