Car started running erratically of way home from church. It was intermittent for a few seconds a few times prior and cleared up right away. This time it continued to run poorly and I wasn't sure I would make it home so I stopped at the nearest repair shop. I ended up having to replace all the ignition coils. I would expect a quality automobile to not have this significant of a repair required before 100k miles. This really lost some faith in Toyota over this. Guess I should have stuffed some floor mats over the accelerator and gotten some $$ for that.

My 90 year old Dad took the car to a local garage to have the oil changed. About a month later "1" of the ignition coils went out on the car.....or so he was told. A few weeks after that....(and honestly, I'm guessing with this timeline because I really don't remember the exact dates but I do know it all happened within a few months of the oil change!) the car started sputtering while he was going down the road.....and all of a sudden it just stopped! Took it back to the local garage and was told that the other 5 ignition coils needed to be replaced!!

The car had approximately 45,000 miles on it......I have never even heard of this happening to a car with mileage that low!! It was driven by an elderly man and myself.....No abuse to the car whatsoever!! About 6 months later I took it to a local Toyota dealership this time to have the oil changed....all of a sudden the power steering column had to be replaced....the cv boot was torn and IT had to be replaced!! This cost an additional $2000+....Will someone please tell me WHY all of this happened to basically a new car that has only been on one road trip to California otherwise it has been driven locally....in the city.....not 4 wheeling or anything.....just regular old driving around town!?

The front end is all messed up and apparently cannot be aligned.....Toyota tried twice....charged us $90 the first time.....tried to charge me an additional $90 the second time....Uh....nooo.....wasn't about to pay it again!! The stupid thing still shakes when I go over 40 mph. WTH?? Toyota suggested we buy a set of new tires.....so we did....we really did need them.....to the tune of almost $900....additional dollars...from Sears.....Sears supposedly balanced the tires....but the front end STILL shakes when I go over 40 mph!! My initial opinion was that the local garage saw an elderly man coming and decided to take advantage of the situation.....God only knows what they may have done to the car.....they told my Dad that "this....this.....and this....needed to be done" and he handed over his Visa...no questions asked! (Who does that?? A 90 year old man, I guess!) Supposedly they showed him the "faulty" ignition coils.....Really? They could have gotten those things off of any car they had worked on.....not necessarily my Dad's!! I couldn't believe it!

All in all my Dad has put pretty close to $5000 into this Toyota Avalon and I am blown away!! After I read the posts on this website and a few other posts online....I'm wondering if my parents weren't just sold a "lemon"!! If anyone has had any of the same problems with their 2007 Toyota Avalon....PLEASE....DO TELL!! I am beyond frustrated!! Thank you so much in advance!!! =)

Other than minor problems (brakes, tires, battery) this is the first major problem I've encountered and it could be a big one. I have an engine coil problem. My car has been spurting and vibrating and losing power at times. I had an Audi tech check it out so I know it is a coil. I have to see him again to determine which one

it is. One of the three in the front - easy to fix. One of the three in the back - more work involved.

I noticed an article stating that the 2007 Avalon had coil problems. I wonder if Toyota would fix my

coil for free?

I HAVE A 2007 AVALON LIMITED I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE ALL THE IGNITION COILS EXCEPT 1 TOYOTA OF COLORADO SPRINGS SOLD US A USELESS EXTENDED WARRANTY IT DOES NOT COVER THE COILS THAT MAKE THE ENGINE OPERATE PROPERLY I HAVE BEEN TO THE LARRY H MILLER FIVE TIMES ON THE AVALON AND ONE TIME ON MY 2007 CAMRY SE V6. MY BIGGEST GRIPE IS THAT THEY KNOW IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 07 IGNITION COIL BECAUSE THE NEW ONES THEY PUT IN ARE NOT THE SAME. THE BADDEST THING OF ALL WAS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THE SERVICE TECH ACTUALLY TOLD ME I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN WHEN THE LAST COIL GOES OUT. WE HAD A PONTIAC BEFORE WE BOUGHT TOYOTAS AND THAT WAS A BETTER CAR THAN THIS AVALON. AS FAR AS DEPENDABILITY WE SHOULD HAVE WENT TO FORD.
