The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Avalon. The contact stated that the low beam headlights flickered and shorted intermittently on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician diagnosed that only the low beam bulbs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a second independent repair shop where it was diagnosed that the driver side headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.

100% of night time driving especially on country roads that are hilly we lose effective headlight performance (when going up a hill the headlights only project about 40 to 50 feet). This problem seems to be typical of the Avalon limited from others having the same problem. We are scared to drive the car at night since going 55 mph we are covering 80 plus feet per second.
