There is a very strong musty smell. 80% of the time it's when I turn on AC. 20% just at random driving times. Whenever car has sat longer then a few hours with all windows up. When open doors is has very musty smell. I have done everything to do with cleaning vehicle. This is a hybrid I'm a lil scared when it comes to electrical fire. Do to this musty smell. That means there is some type of fluid gathering somewhere. So what does Toyota plan on doing?

I had a smell of old water in my vehicle while trying to figure out from where it was coming from.I noticed in left and right rear ceiling quarter panels both wet and had water damage. Then I opened my trunk and it also had the same stale water smell. Under the spare tire on the very bottom of trunk there was at least 2 gallons of stale water. I have not had this looked at by the dealer or a mechanic. Do to it being a hybrid im very worried do to electrical components near the rear back seats where leak stains and water is. Also in my trunk is a hybrid battery next to were water was filling up. There's no damage to anything on the vehicle inside or out the vehicle has not been in no accidents. I'm available upon request for inspections. I have provided pictures of damage on rear ceiling panels. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from someone as soon as possible

This issue happened while the vehicle was in motion on the highway. Rear sunshade randomly deployed and is permanently stuck in the up position completely blocking rear visibility. Sunshade is supposed to go down when vehicle is placed in reverse, this function no longer works further inhibiting safe vehicle maneuvering. The rear facing backup camera has a statement saying to not rely on the backup camera when backing up, this no longer an option for me as I can no longer clearly see out of the rear window. Night time reversing is virtually impossible with any degree of safety. This appears to be a known issue with Toyota as they replaced a relay in the sunshade in model years after 2014 that seems to have remedied this issue. There is no way manually lower the sunscreen. There's no way to easily swap out the defective relay. There's no way to disconnect the sunshade from the wiring harness. There isn't an independent fuse for the sunshade that can be removed. The sunshade appears to be on a fuse that controls the headlights, taillights, braking system and cruise control system. By removing the fuse this would make my vehicle even less safe the it already is.

The subject vehicles may be equipped with an electronic control unit (ECU) from a specific supplier designed to receive signals from crash sensors and deploy the airbags and seat belt pretensioners. The ECU may not have adequate protection against certain electrical noise that can occur in certain crashes, such as severe underride crashes. This can lead to incomplete or nondeployment of the airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

The rear window shade (which should automatically go down when you put the car in reverse) was stuck in the up position which made it difficult to see clearly when backing up also at night. Toyota said it was not warrantied and that they would not be responsible for the coast $1400 to replace a bad motor even though I said it was a safety hazard. In the end I paid $395.58 to have the motor disconnected so I could see clearly out the back window.

Rear window is distorted making it impossible to see clearly, while sunlight disables the back up camera so I'm not able to clearly identify pedestrians. I've owned 5 Toyota since 2005 but this one is the worst and unsafe vehicle I've ever owned.

Pcs recall Nov 2015. Vehicle taken in and temporary bypass made (5 Feb 2016). Received word in June that a fix was available. Was told parts not available. It is Aug and parts still not available. Since this is a safety issue I was told not to take long trips until it is fixed. Unacceptable

Driving from pa to nc.on RT13 in seaford, de, driving speed limit heard loud bang. Sunroof exploded & cracked from inside.drove to 1st auto garage, they said we were 2nd Toyota this week with cracked sunroof. They gave us a roll of duct tape, to get us through the monsoon. Toyota Corp recommended going to dealer for evaluation as to how this happened. Have to wait 2 days for appointment. My old Avalon has made many long trips without any problem. This new car has definitely not been made well. I am very disappointed.

Two related problems. First, six months ago, rodents got into engine compartment and chewed into the insulated liner of the hood. Fragments were dangling into engine when I found it before any problems but repair was $400+. last week, filling gastank, a gallon of fuel spilled on ground immediately. Attendant supervising station spotted it and hit the cutoff. Dealer found that rodent had chewed hole in filler tube. For 35 years, I have parked many cars in this rural neighborhood with wildlife. Many squirrels and chipmunks. Never had a problem until this vehicle. One episode of rogue rodent under the hood might happen. Two in less than a year, at both ends of the car, both in temperate weather makes me wonder if there is something in these materials that attracts rodents. These weren't catastrophic but both events had the potential for great chaos. I have documentation of the repairs if you need them.

Carbon monoxide (co) has been measured in the cabin of the car while driving, when the engine is under load. Also, the smell of engine combustion fumes is included with the co. Toyota has determined that it is not a "repairable condition". technical repair manuals do not list the condition, therefore no repair has been made. Toyota has not honored its warranty. I have incurred a financial loss. To date, Toyota has not provided a solution to this safety problem. A letter with details has been sent to NHTSA, dated 1/26/2016.

Road noise very loud and distracting. After some investigating on my own I found the problem was coming from the left and right outside mirrors. Took to dealer and they found no issues.so I came back home and did some research on internet and found others having same complaint. The mirror housings were changed on models after 8/2013 (had ribs add to housing) return to dealer and they changed to the newer housings and the noise went away.
