excessive oil burn lead to engine failure

Driving from Chicago to Denver, the engine seized up on route 80 in Nebraska. when the engine seized the timing belt snapped. the engine was replaced by a Japanese low time engine at Carlson Toyota on Montrose Ave in Chicago. Not sure that was worth it.
