Vehicle cruise control suddenly accelerates without driver input and continues to accelerate/decelerate until cruise control is disengaged. When reactivated, it works fine until the next episode.

The idle speed control valve breaks down every about two years. In cold starting, engine does not start. Replacement is expensive at $400. Toyota should recall this inherently defective part. My problem began in 1997, 1999 and 2002.
