i HAVE OWNED TOYOTAS SINCE 1976. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO HAVE TO GO SHOPPING FOR ANOTHER CAR. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THE SAME TOYOTA EMPLOYEE AND TELL HIM WHAT I WANTED AND HE WOULD HAVE IT DELIVERED TO ME. I BOUGHT A 2001 CAMRY AFTER I WAS T-BONED IN THE ONE I WAS DRIVING. I HAVE TO SAY I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND NUMEROUS OTHER THINGS ON THIS CAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE AND FRANKLY, DID NOT BELIEVE TOYOTA HAD ANY LEMONS BUT I SURE GOT FOOLED ON THIS ONE. I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING, THANKFULLY MY MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO CORRECT THIS. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I GOT THE CAR, BEFORE ALL THE PRESS EARLIER THIS YEAR. WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO TOYOTA, I WAS TOLD IT DID NOT FIT IN THE WARRENTY CATEGORY AND WAS BASICALLY IGNORED. I WASN'T ASKING FOR ANYTHING, JUST WANTED TO LET SOMEONE KNOW I HAD HAD A PROBLEM. THEN I HAD A MULTITUDE OF PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED FROM TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT, COST WAS QUOTED AT $3000.00+ TO CORRECT. I TOOK IT TO MY ME3CHANIC AND HE FIXED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN $400.00. I AM RETIRED AND CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR AT THIS TIME, BUT WHEN I DO LOOK FOR ONE I DON'T BELIEVE IT WILL BE ANOTHER TOYOTA. wHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR CARS, THEY HAVE AALWAYS BEEN RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE, AND REQUIRED VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE WITH GOOD SERVICE TO MAINTAIN IT. iT JUST MAKES ME SICK THAT I CANNOT DEPEND ON ANOTHER TOYOTA FOR FEAR OF GETTING ANOTHER LEMON.

The paint is being eaten away. Maybe acid rain? The problem areas are on the roof and on the trunk. The original paint color is silver, and I've got black dots everywhere it's being mysteriously eaten off. It definitely needs a paint job.

Bought an aftermarket hood ornament for the car and left it on for the winter. Eventually, it rusted out and I peeled it off the hood with no problem. A little bit of the adhesive stuck to the hood and then I saw a white spot that I can't clean off. Paint was sadly eaten away and now I have to repaint it soon.
