Camry LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I bought the car two years ago with 56,000 miles on it. I've been keeping up with regular maintenance, as a matter of fact I just put new tires on it when I noticed it was stiff to steer. I thought maybe it was something the tire people did. It seemed to get worse so I took it to my mechanic. He said he would have to replace the rack and pinion and also a gear in the steering column. I asked why, but was only told "sometimes it happens". Great but why to me!

Camry LE

  • Manual transmission
  • 120,000 miles

My car is having 120K miles and I experience a stiffness in the steering when turning right or left. It also does not realign to the position after the turn. It's been an annoying experience with the steering as I have to feel it at every turn. Sometimes it makes me feel unsafe to drive. I heard there are lot many other cars of my car model facing same issue. Toyota should definitely take it on serious note and make a decision to recall such cars and fix them soon.
