This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
This is a materials problem. Toyota has used a speaker cover that is simple inadequate to stand up to ordinary use for a reasonable time period. It is a pervasive issue. I keep a look out for Camry cars of the same year and I have noticed almost all have the same issue with broken speaker covers. Most are worst than mine. The damage to my one speaker cover occurred when I was cleaning the inside rear window. I only just barely touched the surface of the one speaker cover and the plastic collapsed creating a hole.
When I spot other Toyota Camry cars in the same year as mine, I look to see the condition of the speaker covers. I take a picture when I see the damaged collapsed speaker covers. My guess is that the owners of these vehicles are unaware of how extensive this problem is.

At first Toyota wanted me to pay for the replacement but I insisted it was within the warranty period. The back panel disintegrated while I was dusting it. Next time I get a new car I will get the back windshield tinted against uv. Even though I like Toyota I do not trust buying this model ever again because 6 years later there is another problem with the interior.

My rear speaker grill covers are turning to dust and leaving me with holes where the covers should be. I didn't know that it was a common problem for Toyota Camrys until I went by the Ford/Toyota dealership parts department and didn't even have to tell them the kind of car it was. All I had to do was ask about speaker covers. I bought new covers for $21.00 thinking they would just snap off and on. WRONG!!! I ended up calling the service department to find out how much it would cost to have them replace the covers. I was told at least $150.00 because it involved a lot of work and was not easy to do. I thought that since this had evidently been a common problem, Toyota would do something to make it right. WRONG AGAIN!!! When I called the complaint department, I was told that the speaker covers were under a 3yr 36,000 mile warranty and that they could not help me. Right now I have a big beach towel in my back window which doesn't look great, but it looks better than holes where covers should be. I just don't think I should fork out $150.00 for something that Toyota should take care of anyway. The quality of their product is definitely poor. What proof do I have that the new covers will hold up any better than the original ones? Definitely not happy with their customer service, or should I say lack of customer service. Thanks for letting me sound off.

Poor quality product, rear speaker grill covers and head liner dry rotten requiring replacement. It is a real shame, that Toyota has cut some many corners over the past years. My household has purchase six Toyota's over the past five years. Final answer, we will not purchase another Toyota in our lifetime. Going back to Ford.

As many of the speaker grills that have been bad, Toyota should have issued a recall and replaced them with a better product. This will help make a decision on my next car purchase.

I did not notice a small hole in each of the speaker cover grills, and when I touched to examine, they became bigger because the resin materials are breaking down after exposed to UV. The cover should be made of better weather-resistant materials. This is the first time I encountered this problem with any car I have owned and am very disappointed. I would probably let the grills cave in to the point where they would be gone exposing the entire speakers rather than paying a lot of money to replace them. I am not necessarily a Toyota-loyal kind of person.

I ALSO HAVE GRILLS FALLING APART AND I TOO BLAMED MY GRANDSON. THEY LOOK AWFUL AND CAN'T BELIEVE IT COST AROUND 150 TO REPLACE

Other than the problem we currently have with the rear speaker covers desolving/rotting, and the latch on the arm rest/console falling off, I have had no problems with our Camry's at this time. This problem seems to be a very real problems for a lot of Camry owners, glad to know I am not alone.....in a way. I will be calling Toyota now that I know it wasn't just me thinking the grandkids must have poked them. Hopefully there is a remedy already. If not, I don't work and can be very persistant. Will post the outcome soon.

Dry-rotted rear speaker grills in both rear speakers. Dealership sold me two left grills and it should have been right & lift grill covers. They wanted to charge me an extra $285 to repair when I think they should have done the repair free since it was their fault for installing such poor quality grills to begin with. I took my car to a local repair shop and was charged $147 - that included new speaker grills that dealership brought to them, but would not do an exchange. Now I have to return the ones I purchased from dealership in order to get a credit of $20. By the way, I have always kept my car in an enclosed basement. I searched the internet and apparently this is a common gripe about their cheap speaker grill covers.

This is a very common problem in several year models and yet toyota will not completely cover under any sort of extended warranty. I'm very disappointed. I came over from Honda; did I make a mistake?

I was DUSTING the back of my car and the speaker covered COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED!!!! I cannot believe how annoyingly fragile these are. And come to find out it is a common problem, which they refuse to acknowledge and fix! Shame on you, Toyota! Cutting corners is no way to go. I am going back to HONDA!!!!! (And this costs over $100 to fix)
