left side tension rod of trunk came off the left hinge

All of a sudden when I opened my trunk it made loud snapping noise and trunk lost most of it tension. Looked inside and found that left side tension rod came off the V groove and left hinge is hanging down. Now I have to close my trunk slowly holding all the way down. If I don't hold it it slams down and may hit your head if you are too close to trunk. You need special tool to attach hinge to tension rod.

Every time the trunk door is opened it slams against the back of the car, causing slight damage each time. Several people I have talked to have also reported this problem with their '06 Toyota Camry LE.
