Car flipped 3 times, it is a mangled mess and not one airbag deployed. This caused injuries to the driver, if any passengers would have been in the vehicle they would have been killed.

2006 Toyota corolla. Consumer writes in regards to takata airbag safety recall. The consumer stated the dealer received defective parts to repair the vehicle. The parts were returned and the consumer has since not received new parts to repair the vehicle.

A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact called lewis Toyota of topeka (located at 2951 sw fairlawn rd, topeka, ks 66614, (785) 273-2220) and informed them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 98,000.

Yesterday while driving the vehicle on city streets with my wife on the passenger seat the passenger "air bag off" light came on and stayed on. The car has 78,131 miles on the odometer. The Toyota owner's manual states that the "air bag off" indicator means that the passenger air bag system is disabled. I checked on the internet and found that there are many complaints about this problem but I did not see that Toyota has taken any action. Obviously, this is a serious safety issue that should be addressed before someone get injured or killed. If there is a recall now or in the future, please let me know.

Takata recall. This car was never recalled by the local Toyota dealer. Air bags failed to deploy in a one car accident. Camry went around a traffic circle and unexpectedly accelerated. The car hit a curb and hit a mid size tree. The tree was destroyed and the car totaled. The car was on a city street when the accident occurred and the air bags failed to deploy. The owner of the car had to go to the hospital for treatment.

On April 21, 2015 I had my car in the dealer for a oil change etc. When I left the dealer I noticed that my air bag light was on located on the dash and also the air bag light stated that it was off. I went back to the dealer and showed him what happened and he stated that it was a computer problem and it would cost me around $700 to repair the computer. I told him it was not on when I brought the car in and now it is on. I only have approx., 48,000 on this car and I purchased it new in Nov. 2005. He did not fix it and I am concerned that if I get into a accident the airbag system will not work. I do not have the $700 to get it fixed. I do not believe what he told me, it must be something else with the airbag system. As long as the airbag lights are on it will not pass state inspection. I need it fixed. Thank you.

Air bag light came on intermittently for weeks before coming on in February 2015. Thinking it was not urgent, I took the car into the dealership and they ran the code. They informed me that the air bag computer sensor had failed which was located in the passenger seat and had to be replaced, totally $3300 for parts. Air bags may not deploy properly or deploy unexpectedly until fixed. Expensive repair for car nearing end of its life.
