About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Car hesitates and automatic transmission shifts abruptly at highway speeds (55-65 mph). Hesitation is particularity alarming. If I needed to accelerate quickly from a stop, this car would not respond. Dealer states they have never heard of these problems, yet the hesitation on the 2007 Toyota Camry is well documented on web sites (edmunds etc.). dealer also tried to pass off this defect as "this is a drive by wire car and you may not be used to how they operate". I have been driving for 35 years and have never had cars operate in this manner. If drive by wire is the problem, then this technology should not be allowed on cars.
