Car was recently shipped from overseas. When I got my car, the dash lights will not go off, the ABS motor will not shut off causing my battery to drain constantly, speedometer will not work, gas gauge moves slow, engine shakes and feels like it is going to cut off. The car was stationary and in motion. Car air condition occasionally blows hot air.

Dealership found the ABS actuator had failed. Symptoms included: ABS and parking break lights randomly turn on while driving. Speedometer will stop working and tachymeter will start to bounce. A/C also blows warm. There are several cases of this found online and per consumer reports the 2007 Camry hybrid experienced problems with the ABS actuator as well.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that there was a presence of an internal fire and smoke emitted under the hood without warning. Upon further inspection, it was noticed that there was an electrical charge with the positive battery cable. The battery mounts, battery posts, and metal plate burned and the battery cradle fractured, which exposed the battery. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

On an intermittent basis, brake and ABS indicator lights illuminate on instrument panel, tachometer and speedometer are inoperative or indicator needles jumping, temperature gauge inoperative, A/C not functioning. Occurs while driving and when stationary. Based on internet research other drivers state problem is with ABS ECU. Dealer indicates Toyota will not fund repair. Based on apparent frequency of problem, Toyota should cover cost of repair. Per dealer, part costs about $1700.

1) front headlamps burn weak and plastic lens covers yellowed over time, latter problem of which is that lenses can't be cleaned by either commercial auto solvents or by local mechanic, creating safety hazard for driving at night. Price quoted for parts alone via Toyota is $818 for headlamp set, plus labor. I have owned 2 other Camry models and never had any issue with headlamp obfuscation due to lens material or bulb composition. This vehicle's headlamp lens composition is filmy to cloudy to naked eye in daylight, not nearly crystal clear as when new.. even if bulbs were replaced the lens would obscure radius and length of headlamp for any night distance driving other than heavily lit streets. Must use high beams at night when possible and when not hazard to oncoming drivers. Even high beam distance dull. Noticed while driving on highway and other cars illuminate their own pathway far better than my own. Night time driving on rural, semi-rural, county, Suburban or unlighted state and local highways in particular are a hazard. 2) engine has regularly burned 1 quart of oil about every 1,000 miles since car had clocked 60K miles. Underwent oil test under extended recall bulletin via Toyota and it deemed car within specs (time of year and type of oil can vary amount of oil burned but recommended 5W20 results in 2-3 quarts a month burned off, no leaks, 75% highway driving.). bigger issue is oil can get dangerously low (at least quarter inch below dipstick low level) and no dashboard warning light comes on. Oil levels must be checked manually at least weekly and/or at fill-up to ensure oil tank has enough oil. Generally have been adding 2 to 3 quarts a month. Despite tech bulletin recommendations, Toyota says I am ineligible for mechanical remediation. Car currently runs and has 160K miles +/- on it. Date below is approximate for 60K mileage..

July 2016, check engine light came on. Diagnostic indicated code P171. Was advised it was a laundry list of systems to check for this code. ( replaced the following; flex pipe, 02 sensor, spark plugs and fuel pump. For a total of 1400.00) while driving on I-95 at 60 mph, airbag light, brake light, ABS light and seat belt light all illuminated at the same time. Techometer surged out of control, engine temp gauge displayed no reading and speedometer went to zero. Oh and yeah, the ac that was blowing very cold air switched to warm or hot. All of these issues happened at the same time on the highway at 60 mph. Ironically, the check engine light did not illuminate and the mechanic is unable to determine the cause as there is no code issued from the computer for this very dangerous problem. This problem happens randomly and there is no warning. The engine performs normal during this issue with the exception of the ac that fails every time. This issue can and has happened when the car is sitting parked with engine running and while in motion. I am so afraid that this eventually will cause a serious accident or death. And the most annoying part is no mechanic can tell any of us why this happens or how to fix it. Please, please, help us before the worst happens.

The tachometer, speedometer, and odometer work sporadically, mostly they are non functional. All warning lights are on when the speedometer is not working. The gas and temperature gauge work most of the time. The air condition fan works normally but the air condition blows cold air only when the speedometer is working.

Speedometer, tachometer and temperature gauge either stop working, or bounce around, out of control. The blower for the ac works, but when the condition exists, there is no cold air. Things are normal at a cold start, but deteriorate from there, stationary or all types of driving.

The instrument that show speed, RPM, gasoline, etc was going wary. The speed and the RPM go up and down, brake light come on, ABS light come on, etc. I do not how fast I drive. This happened around every 5 mins, randomly and last for 1 mins sometimes 10 mins. The air conditioning stop working during this time. I checked online and I saw many people experience the same thing. This is a manufacturer problem, there is not relate issue with the way you drive, the way you do anything in the car. I used the card since new and the mileage currently only 103K+, for 9 years old car this is very low mileage.

Recently the "ABS" and "brake" light came up; now these light come up and stay on for some time- simultaneously; the needles of the mph, RPM, H/C, and gas gauge drops- the prm needles flicker up and down. Also, the temperature marker doesn't work. The mph hits down to '0' when I am on the road at normal speed. But I don't know my speed. My air conditioning system does not work when this happens. I also notice that it doesn't track the "trip' miles when it is out of control (although I haven't noticed if it fails to track the mileage on the odometer. Then this 'problem' stops and the car goes back to "normal." A few minutes later, the same problem. The problem can last for 5 minutes to 20 minutes. I called Toyota service's 800 number after searching the web and reading similar problems being documented. Here are just a few: www.carcomplaints.com/Toyota/Camry/2007/electrical/electrical_system.shtml; www.justanswer.com/Toyota/5O8xa-Toyota-Camry-operating-2007-Camry-occasionally.html. one person posted 'I called the Toyota corporate office in 2012', yet when I called Toyota claimed no knowledge. The person I spoke to even said they have never received a call about this before. Some of the posts online of people who have complained about this issue state the exact thing Toyota told me over the phone. This is a huge safety hazard. I tried to defrost my windows and had an issue with that because the car was on the "ABS" "brake" and the car was acting up. My car tested positive for oil consumption problem and I am waiting to get that replaced. Now this started happening. This "new" problem needs to be addressed and corrected by Toyota.
