So dissapointed on my camry, i thought i can rely on this car for many more miles but this comsumption oil problem is something that i dont wanna worry about, i have take my car to the oil comsumption test and the dealer always said that doesn fall in to the category for warranty, at 2800 miles after each oil change i find there is minimum oil and I have to add sometimes up to 2 qt. So dissapointed of toyota

Made multiple trips to the have oiled topped off and no one ever mentioned this issue. The first time I complained to the Oil Change station about them forgetting to put oil in the after the oil change and they happily took another look and made sure that all the oil was present. I called since and told them this issue. Only now that I took it to a mechanic that I know and trust was this issue brought to light. According to my mechanic, Toyota has done little to inform consumers of the issue and there was(is) a time frame to do so. The "Recall" information regarding the models says nothing of the "Excessive Engine Oil Consumption" and years ago, there was a "Excessive Engine Oil Consumption Class Action Lawsuit" against Toyota. This is not acceptable and because of their response on the issue, have little faith in Toyota now.

All i have heard is how good Toyotas are. I purchased a 2007 camry for my daughter and all it is is an oil burning piece of sh*#. I have to put one quart in every 1000 miles. I paid $8000 for the car and cannot afford to get the issue fixed. Needless to say, it will be the last Toyota that will be parked in my garage.

Vehicle has a oil consumption issue that has led to engine failure. Vehicle consumes oil quickly without signs of oil leak. We changed the oil and discovered it was using a large amount of oil in a short time period. Driver was not aware oil was being consumed at such a high rate. Driver only discovered issue after recently changing oil and checking it. The only reason we checked the oil is because we heard knocking sounds from the engine. When we checked the dip stick it had no oil.

1 quart oil every 1000 miles? BS. Now I pull into gas station and check my fuel and fill up the oil.

I noticed my daughter's Camry was burning oil after about a month after a oil change I checked the oil and it wasn't even touching the stick. I took it to our local dealer and they wanted to charger us like $2,800.00 to fix the timing chain, I knew this wasn't the problem so we took it to a mechanic and he immediately knew of a recall on Toyota Camry's burning oil so he said we should take it to another dealer which we did in Norfolk, Va. Checkered Flag Toyota and they ran the consumption test on the vehicle which is a two phase test and they said it passed and they wouldn't be able to fix it. We are not happy with this I know the car is burning oil to the amount of over a quart to a 1000 miles which their test was 1200 miles. They said our car had burnt a little over half of a quart of oil. I have read on several blogs which Toyota insists it's normal for the cars to burn oil, and refuse to fix this problem as they did with us. The car now has 132,000 miles on it and the cut off limit is 150,000 miles.

Burning oil so much that it may be causing other issues: engine malfunction. Sometimes car won't go over 30mph.

I have to add a quart of oil to my engine about once every two weeks (or ~350 miles). I've been doing this since May 2016. It is expensive and time consuming. I've gone to three different mechanics and all have come up with the same conclusion: new engine. I can't afford a new engine, let alone a new car, unfortunately. I will be contacting Toyota about the limited service campaign for repairing excessive oil consumption that I recently discovered and will hopefully get an update on whether the car is eligible for future part replacement. If not, it looks like Toyota will always be a no go when it comes to car purchases in the future.

My 2007 Toyota Camry started oil burning oil a while back, first time I realized that was 3 month after an oil change service when the oil service light came up on my dashboard. I checked the oil and there was none. I started doubting if those people really did the oil change or simply took advantage and didn't put any.
Before calling the place I started searching on the internet and see many people having the same problem. Since then I don't take my vehicle to do any oil change since I just have to pour oil anytime the oil service light come up. After a while I got this letter in the mail about the Oil Consumption then I decided to take my vehicle to a Toyota dealer in downtown Nashville. At that time the mileage of my vehicle was under 150000 and obviously before the expiration date of the Warranty Letter (Oct, 31 2016).
Well these people at the Beaman in Downtown Nashville did not do the job and sent me back home stating that my vehicle has a rebuilt title and the warranty is not effective anymore, I decided to contact Toyota Motors Sales USA this year 2017 (Jan) and spoke to a lady that stated the same thing, I asked to speak to a supervisor and the supervisor repeat the same, I went to Rivergate Toyota in Madison TN and these people didn't help at all, they sent me back home, this has been a pain the the a.. and a waist of time and money. This does not make sense.
Toyota don't want to take responsibility for their mistakes and they categorize this issue as an enhancement instead of a recall in order for them to get away with the responsibility of fixing the vehicle, since enhancement on their stupid policy wont cover rebuilt title vehicle but recall would do. I will never buy a Toyota vehicle in my entire life.

This is my 90-year-old Dad's '07 Toyota Camry. He noticed that it was using oil, but the Toyota service guy brushed aside questions. He eventually received the letter from Toyota alerting owners of "excessive oil usage of the engine".
When he took the car in, the mechanic obviously had a mantra to speak to customers to confuse and dismiss the issue if possible. I guess they are too busy repairing all of their own used cars on the Toyota lot, so that they will not be sued when they sell a car with an engine that will blow on them!
We were instructed to drive the wheels off the car (at 91), not gonna happen, and to come back for a Pass/Fail test. We put 1100 miles on the car and it was a quart low!!!! "NO PROBLEM!" The mechanic says. "NOT EXCESSIVE", in Toyota speak.
Now we have to put 1800 miles on the car and come back for a Pass/Fail test!!! Dad will be 95 by then!! Toyota you are toast on Dad's list. He says he will never respect the name again.
As a side-note, he always had trouble with the idle of the engine and the Toyota guy reset it. Dad's first car was a 1935 Ford. He has listened to a few engines purr. From Toyota he has received buyers remorse from day one, but he bought it and he has lived with the disappointment of a failed design from a failing company!

Problem w burning oil started slowly @ 150k miles was noticable @ 185k & is 1qt per fillup (500 miles) now @ 230k. Toyota serviced until 185k. Design flaw. Cowards about standing by their products. TSB & problem sampling is an insult to otherwise loyal customers. Sleazy and crappy behavior.

I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry in a private sale in 2014, I was never notified by the seller or Toyota of the excessive oil consumption problem. I was notified by Toyota about other known issues but not the oil consumption issue. I assumed it was a problem with just my vehicle and was never aware it was wide spread problem until I spoke with friend who also owns a 2007 Camry and just had their vehicle repaired under the extend warranty coverage. I immediately went to my local Toyota dealership to inquire about the extended warranty coverage. I was informed that my car was no longer eligible and missed the deadline by just over 1 month. The 10year in service date expired 11/18/2016. However I was never notified by Toyota of the known problem and when my car was in for warranty services at Toyota they failed to notify me that my vehicle should be checked for excessive oil consumption or was eligible for repair. I'm sure their records show my car has not been tested or repaired for the oil consumption problem. I called Toyota corporate to see if they would help and although the customer service personnel was nice and polite she said Toyota was FIRM with the dates and mileage restrictions. My car only has 97,700 miles and I missed extended the date deadline by just over 1 month. I am very disappointed and cannot afford to pay for the repair myself. I guess I will be burdened with checking my oil often and adding oil as needed for the life of the car. Not a happy Toyota customer!

At 1558 miles since last oil change oil level is at 1/4" above "add". In the past there barely any useage between oil changes. I am the only owner of this car. The oil was always changed as recommended. Toyota has a TSB out on this. They will test the car by changing the oil and filling it to "full" and seal the system. Then you drive it for 1100-1300 miles and they check the oil level. If it does not use more than a quart it "passes" and you dont qualify for the "fix". I called the dealer and he set me up an appt to do the test. At this point in time I'm using less than a quart in 1558 miles. My drop dead date for the extended warranty to cover this is 3-28-2017. The chance that the car will meet this criteria by 3-28-17 is slim to none. Toyota knows there is a problem and put this program in place to save face and limit their losses. This is excessive oil consumption by my standards. I have never owned
an auto with this low milage that used oil like this. This is only going to get worse since the rings are junk steel.
This car is POS. Already shopping for a Honda. Toyota has taken a page from the American automobile manufacturers self-destruct hand-book. My first and last toyota. My 1996 Saturn had 186000 miles and didn't use this much oil. They must use the same steel to make rings that's used to make junk rotors.

I always keep up on the maintenance on my car! I want it to last! I just hit 108k miles. This is the second time in a row that I have had a oil light come on while I was driving. Under 2k after an oil change. When the light comes on that means I HAVE NO OIL IN THE ENGINE!!!! So I paid $50 at the dealership to have an oil change last less that 2000 miles.... I could have damaged my engine beyond repair. Thank god I didn't this time. I did the Toyota test of 1100-1300 oil consumption. They said I passed. But less than 800 miles and my engine is empty of oil????? Come on!!!!!! I have a show car. Yes a Toyota show car. I take pride in my car and your telling me that It should burn 1 quart of oil every 1200 miles!!! that is crap!!!! TOYOTA knows they are wrong for this!!!! they know it a bad engine but puts a test out that is not accurate!!!!! I use to love Toyota now I'm a shamed to have one.

This problem is under recall. Had to go through test at dealership to prove the problem exist. Then they have to "order parts." They are months behind on making the parts and cannot give us a date for repairs. They "will call!" I'm sure they would rather you trade the car so they do not have to pay to fix!

Just fix my car. I am not the only one with this problem. There are even people on youtube documenting this problem. I have been to the dealer and was told that this is normal. In reality, a car burning oil is not normal. PLEASE HELP. This should not be happening to a toyota.

Just had the oil consumption test done on my 2007 Toyota Camry with 79,000 miles. I was told it passed but just barely. Meaning it was just under more than one quart of oil consumption requirements. It's amazing that Toyota thinks that nearly one quart of oil is acceptable every 1200 miles on a car with 79,000 miles. This means that in a time where oils are better and lasting longer ( 10,000-15,000 miles) in which they say is better for the environment, this car will need 4.7 quarts of oil when changed and another 8.3-12.5 quarts added before it is due to be changed again. That is 13-17.2 quarts every 10,000-15,000 miles. Over the life of this vehicle which they claim will last over 300,000 miles, the oil consumption would be 390 qts. at 10,000 mile oil changes or 344 qts. at 15,000 mile changes. Normal oil changes over 300,000 miles every 10,000 would need 30 oil changes at 4.7 qts. which equal 141 qts. Every 15,000 miles needs 20 oil changes adding up to 94 qts. My car will use at least an extra 250 quarts of oil over 300,000 miles or more as the engine wears. Not good for my wallet and not good for the environment. I own five vehicles and the other four combined do not use as much oil between oil changes as my Toyota.
Update from Dec 8, 2016: After talking to three different people at Toyota corporate headquarters and my local dealership they have decided that because my car is just under a quart of oil every 1200 miles that they WILL NOT be performing any service on the motor. Even after I pointed out that at 66,000 miles when they performed a test it was at 1/2 quart. Now 13,000 miles later it is nearly at 1 quart. This is clearly one of the motors that has a problem and Toyota has no desire to fix their screw up. This was our first Toyota and will definitely be the last.

I changed engine oil on Nov. 21, 2016, after two weeks, the oil was burning half of 1/4 quart about 400 miles. It's terrible issue.

What I am really upset is that the car manufacturer doesn't show respect in notifying its customers regarding this defect for 2007 Toyota camry on the Toyota tsb web site. It was just by chance that I came across the tsb web site when I posted a complaint on google search and found the Toyota tsb site. I had so much respect and confidence in Toyota cars but when the manufactures covers up a defect and cannot admit a gross error was found,do you expect me to have any more confidence and trust in this company. What is also really troubling is that no recall was issued for this problem. Seems like profits and its stock price is more important than customer service. Do I need to say more?

We are only 6 months past warranty coverage for this problem known and documented by Toyota as ZE7 secondary coverage for excessive oil consumption. Called Toyota Customer Service and received no consideration or offers to make good on this known problem.
We purchased this car new because our Toyota Solara, purchased in 2001, has been very reliable and now has 236,000 miles on it. Also, we have recommended Toyota to our family and friends. Now, we will be forced to reconsider. This 2007 Toyota is NOT meeting our expectations of high quality and reliability.
