On or about September, 2011, and within warranty, my oil light came on. I immediately went to ira Toyota. I had two quarts of oil remaining in crankcase. They conducted an oil consumption test, one of three, and told me that the loss of one half quart per 1,000 miles was within specs. Rubbish. I then complained to Toyota motor sales, usa, Inc. They sent me their engineer who stated that Toyota would fix the problem. They performed another oil consumption test, of course. Never saw engineer again. Before engineer, ira Toyota offered to fix it. They claimed it was a $1,500 job and if I gave them $150, they would fix it. They "repaired auto" but it remained the same. And they kept the $150. They kept lying to me for a year. Then, they told me that they would not honor my complaint. Now, my auto uses one quart of oil per 600 miles. Toyota is a fraud. They have so many complaints that they cannot financially take care of all of them. Their vehicles are lemons and their warranties are worthless. (short version)

Camry

  • 116,000 miles
Vehicle was purchased new and has performed well to this point but the other day the oil pressure light flashed a couple times. A check showed the level completely off the stick and took 2.5 quarts to fill. Engine oil had just been changed 2500 miles previous to this. Since filling to the mark, it has used an additional.5 quarts in the last 500 miles. Car is garaged when not being driven and does not appear to be leaking (no spots on garage floor). Some soot in tail pipe but is not smoking. I have owned ~9 different cars and never had one use oil like this. Information on Toyota's web site indicates this is normal. Vehicle should be recalled with defective engine.

I was driving to work in the early morning, all of a sudden engine started making some wired noise and within next 2 min vehicle stopped in the middle of freeway (somehow managed to pull it out to shoulder) could have been fatal injury, then towed the vehicle to dealership, they found that engine sized because of waterpump breakdown, (it didn't give me no time to take that into dealer ) how this could happen for such a low miles and abt 5.5 years old and well maintained vehicle, was complained abt this to Toyota but didn't get a satisfactory answers.

Camry 4-cyl

Oil sign on dash was lighting up (on and off) - checked oil in vehicle - totally empty. No oil leaks ever ! have no idea where it went. I had last oil change around 3,000 miles ago. Last couple of times I had my oil changes done - service technicians stated that my engine oil was extremely low, and that they saw no leaks. I went on the internet and found scores of the same complaint, about the 2007 Camry, 4 cyl.. judging by all of the complaints I've read it is quite apparent this is a major problem that has been brought to Toyota's attention. These vehicles should be recalled and properly fixed.

Engine is consuming 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I have seen that there are similar complains and its seems that dealerships know about it already. I strongly believe Toyota should fix it and recall all Toyota Camry's 2007. I would like to get this problem fixed as soon as possible.

My Toyota Camry 07 (2.4 engine) is burning 2 qts in last 2 months. Didn't find any engine leakage, no spots under car. Before it is burning too but little bit less. I think that is factory problem with engine design which needs to be recall. Thanks.

I was driving the car as usual and noticed red engine oil light came on when I brake for a traffic light. Checked the oil level when I got home and realized there was no oil on the dip stick at all! I ended up putting in about 2 qts of oil to return it to an acceptable level. After researching for the problem, I found out there was a service bulletin for exactly the same problem and basically the engine needed to be rebuilt in order to fix the problem. Seems like Toyota hasn't been honest about their products potential problems lately. Please pressure Toyota to issue a recall for this problem. Otherwise I will never buy any Toyota product again. At the same time, I recalled my dealership, where I purchased the maintenance package from, had previously suggested that oil pan could have been leaking oil. I went under the car, and there was no sign of leakage at all! the dealership always knew about the service bulletin and was trying to misguide me!

Engine made knocking noise. Inspection by Toyota dealer revealed engine main bearing problems probably resulting from low oil pressure or oil depletion. Possible faulty piston rings with this engine/year 2007. This problem is reportedly common with this 4 cylinder engine, but I do not have sufficient data to better assess.

My Toyota Camry burned 1 quart of oil about every 1000 miles, the problem started at 51000 miles, dealer performed oil consumption test and advised me to pay 2500 dollars for labor to fix that problem, they only cover the parts cost 1500 dollars. I did a research and found out many Camry had the same problem, I can't afford to fix this car, please help, hopefully NHTSA would make the Toyota corporation doing a recall and fix this problem, thank you very much.

My 2007 Toyota Camry engine has been burning oil for the last one year. There are significant sludge in the engine that can damage the engine very soon. If I don't fill the engine with additional oil between two oil changes, when its time to change oil, nothing comes out from the engine - the entire oil is being burnt by the engine and the red oil change sign comes out while driving. This is a serious quality issue with Toyota. I never had to deal with similar issues with any other vehicle. When I told the Toyota dealer, they refused to acknowledge this problem - they asked my to keep adding oil. If I remember correctly, there was a recall for 2001 - 06 Toyota for the same issue. There are hundreds of Toyota owners who are having the same issue - please google it to check. Therefore, I am requesting an NHTSA investigation of this engine problem and start a recall of all 2007 Camry engines asap. Will appreciate any help from NHTSA.

Bought this Camry new in 2007 for my wife. I've maintained it as per mfg schedule. After having oil change done at around 65000 miles, I was driving vehicle & noticed oil pressure warning light coming on intermittently. Upon arriving home, checked dip stick & there was no oil on stick!!. this was after oil change 2000 miles ago. I took vehicle to a different service station to get car looked at & a new oil change. The tech found no oil leaks.. he mentioned that he had heard of Camry having excessive oil consumption problems. Went on internet, found a lot of other owners of Camry, this age & with around the same mileage having the same problem. I haven't taken it to the dealership as I don't want to be told "that this is normal:, "that expensive repairs are necessary" but don't solve the problem. Please add me to the list of very unhappy & concerned owners. Given Toyota's track record, I don't have any trust or faith that they will do the right thing for their customers unless forced to.

I had my oil changed about 5,000 miles previously to a moment when my oil light came on barely, and then flashed back off. I decided to check it, just in case, and found that I was totally without oil. I went to Toyota and they informed me that it was simply because I had waited longer than six months to have an oil change. I got the oil change, and the problem continued. They then began an "oil consumption check" where I bring the car in every 1000 miles to see if it has consumed too much oil. At this point in my oil consumption check, after about 3000 miles, I've burned about 1.5 quarts oil, according to them. The car now has about 45K on it, and I say it shouldn't be burning so much oil. The car also doesn't start as responsively as it ought to. The oil also looks very dirty. Toyota continues to tell me this is normal, but many customers are having similar issues I've noticed in online forums, etc., and I suspect Toyota is avoiding taking responsibility for an engine problem.
