I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry le in September 2006. Five months after purchase, I noticed a loud "thud" from the rear of the car during normal acceleration. I also noticed that this only occurs when the fuel tank is between half to full. I took the car to the Toyota dealer for evaluation. The service department assessed the car and stated, "it was operating with in the design parameters of the car, and it was just the gas in the tank." In addition, they stated "we cannot do anything about it because it is a normal function of the car." I then filed for arbitration and the arbitrator ruled it was a defect and must be repaired by Toyota. I have made an appointment with the dealer who stated he does not know how to repair the problem, but that a Toyota technical representative will be there to direct the repair of the documented problem. I am concerned that this may be a safety issue; therefore, I am requesting immediate action. I feel that if the car cannot be repaired to my satisfaction with total elimination of above problem, that it will still be a safety issue, and that Toyota re-purchase vehicle.
