Camry LE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

I own a 2008 Camry LE which was purchased new in 2007. I had to replace the rear wheel bearing assembly on both rear wheels in 2013 due their failure.

I have done research on this and found out in other car forums that this is a very common issue with this generation of Camrys.

Other issues common to all Camry's of this generation are: bad water pumps (bearing failure), struts that fail early, the wheel bearing assembly mentioned above as well as bad 4 cylinder engines (1.8L and 2.4L) with excessive oil consumption that causes premature piston ring failure.

My struts were replaced in 2010 and the water pump and bearings were replaced in 2013.
