Camry LE 2az-Fe

I noticed when I was cleaning the inside of my car and when I wiped down my dashboard with a damp cloth, it was REALLY sticky. That's when I started doing some research. I never received any information from Toyota. It appears that there is a waiting list and people are still waiting on Toyota to replace their dashboard.

The Camry dashboard is melting and sticky. I'm afraid that if I try to fix it myself with Sticky Dash Fix then Toyota will never claim responsibility. Apparently there was a warranty extension to fix the problem. I was never notified of the warranty extension. Driving is extremely difficult because of sun glare from the melting surface. My understanding from recent web searches that other drivers with the problem have been waiting years for a warranty fix.

Toyota is refusing to stand behind their vehicles despite manufacturing defect. Offered an extended warranty with an expiration date rather than a recall. The melting dash is disgusting not to mention dangerous. Bought the Camry for its longevity and now I am left with a sticky mess! Shame on Toyota.

Dashboard is melting. Sticky when there is any heat, and there is a glare if you are driving a certain direction. It has not been a huge problem, but absolutely annoying. Feels like I spilled soda all over my dash and never cleaned it up.

I just started noticing the sticky dashboard earlier this summer. The more I try to clean it the stickier it gets. I called Toyota dealership where I bought car today and they said it could have been fixed up until September 2018. I didn't have the problem then. It just started and it is a mess. If they don't take care of this, I will never buy another Toyota.

We are the only owner for this vehicle. Purchased in 2009. The dashboard is sticky, impossible to clean and is extremely glaring while driving in direct sunlight. The glare is dangerous and should be reason enough for Toyota to be held liable and responsible to replace the dashboard.

I purchased this car for my daughter. I was not aware of the melting dashboard problem, the car did not have the problem when I purchase or I would have noticed. About a year after purchase the problem started to develop and I called Toyota. They said the program expired two before I called and they would not replace the dashboard and offered no recourse whatsoever. This has become a safety issue as the glare is unbearable at times. This car has lees than 130000 miles on it and should not have this problem. This is nt my first Toyota but I question if i will ever buy or recommend Toyota products. Toyota needs to replace a product due to manufacturing defect no matter the age.

Camry 2.4L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

The dash of my 2009 Toyota Camry started getting soft, then got very glossy. Now it is so soft and sticky that everything sticks to it. It is so shiny that it is dangerous to drive, the sun reflects off it and into your eyes making for a dangerous driving condition.

I heard about a recall a couple of weeks ago, so I called the local Toyota dealer. They told me the recall had expired. I never got got any kind of letter, notice or phone call informing me of the recall. He told me that if I had brought it in for service, and had they noticed the sticky dash, they would have let me know about it then. Since I did not come in for service, I was out of luck. I feel that Toyota should have sent me a letter about the issue, as is standard practice for a recall, I could have gotten it fixed a long time ago.

I am also concerned that the air bags might not deply properly in the case of a crash. This could indeed be a life threatening issue.

Camry LE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

I have noticed long time back that something was wrong with my dashboard but never reminded myself to check it with a professional or Google it. Unfortunately the problem got worse in that I am not able to clean the dash anymore. I have contacted Toyota customer experience center but they said the warranty expired, however I never got any notification from them in regards of this issue, and recall.

I really don't understand why statue of limitation should be applicable in such cases. If the manufacturer knows that they used faulty material then they have to stand by their product and replace it regardless of time, but unfortunately it looks like that for a corporations like Toyota the profit is more important than the customers safety, and satisfaction.

I bought this car new and noticed the start of the dashboard problem years ago. It started with a slightly sticky feel to the surface texture, then noticing tiny cuts. The problem worsened with time, the surface texture is like clay dough and anything that touches it, leaves a mark or gouge. I've never experienced nor have I heard of this type of material breakdown until now. This is clearly a defect in the material, which affects the quality and value of the vehicle. I feel that there should be a manufacturer allowance to fairly compensate or replace the dashboard as a solution.

Camry 4 CYL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 128,000 miles

Apparently Toyota and other car companies were using a new dashboard material which is unable to withstand the heat of the sun and humidity. The result is a sticky and defective dashboard that is prone to melting and obstructs your vision when driving. I have the 2009 Toyota Camry and the years involved are from 2007-2011. There is an extended warranty on the cars but this expired in May of 2019. I just purchased this car in May of this year and the seller did not disclose this to me. On top of this I also discovered that I have an issue (a really big one) with multiple failures (ABS and brake lights on, speedometer, RPM and temp gauge fail to register and are fixed at zero which results in the AC unit shutting off) when the dashboard panel completely fails. Used to love Toyota but not now.

dashboard melting

Toyota is aware that they manufactured this car and others with a defective dashboard. They have already been sued for this. The melted dashboard causes a glare in the window making driving unsafe and people have been in accidents. Plus, the goey dashboard may cause the airbags to fail. Rather than recalling the defective cars and replacing the dashboards on all these cars, Toyota chose to offer a 10 year warranty. First of all, I never received notification of this warranty, but it would not have made any difference if I would have, because the problem occurred in my car 2 months after the 10 year warranty expired. Car brakes wear out, tires need replacing, dashboards are NOT SUPPOSE to melt! I imagine toyota expects the dashboards to melt in most cars after 10 years and this is why they offered a 10 year warranty. They can now profit from their own manufacturers defect.

It's a hot mess. You can't roll the windows down because bugs adhere to the dash like fly paper. Trying to clean is worse. Everything sticks to it. The fibers off rag its AWFUL. Then the gooey stuff it gets on the windshield. It makes a reflective glare on the windshield make seeing in sunlight difficult at times. Can it be cleaned or replaced. Help!!!!!
