On my vehicle, my dashboard has developed a sticky residur on the entire dashboard. It appears that the dashboard has began to melt. Ive attempted to clean, etc with no positive results. This sticky residue has a substantial glare emitting off it that sometimes inpairs my visibility and often times creates a reflection on windshield hindering vision when ooerating vehicle. Second note is every sense this has began and gotten worse my car interior now has a distinct smell. Unsure what the smell is but it smells like an odor of a hot plastic material. My interior has been detailed rrc and the smell when not go away. I contacted Toyota because there has been numerous lawsuits and recalls in the past. I was Toyota will not fix because the recall had expired. If its creates unsafe driiving conditions, how can they put an expiration on the fix. The condition of dashboard I believe was created by a defective dashboard not made to withstand humidity or heat. Toyota knows this is a problems, but refuses to help loyal Toyota owners, like myself. I am very displeased with how they handled this. In the picture attached. The sun is overhead, so the reflection not bad but still visible. Look at bottom of windshield and you will see the reflection.

Melting dash: I placed this under "air bags" because there is legitimate concern for their operation under the defective dash. Also, the glare from the shininess of the dash is a concern. I purchased it new in May 2008. My daughter has been driving it. The problem came to my attention literally days after the 10-year "warranty extension". I talked to my dealer and directly to Toyota and they would not resolve the defective dash. This is still a problem. It didn't go away after 10 years.

I have called my local Toyota dealer to report a sticky, melting dashboard. I called several months ago to report this but it was stated that no recalls were out on this. I saw on the news last week about this same issue and I called again on 8/5/2019 and was told again that no recalls were out. I use a sun guard for my windshield but that only helps minimally. My dashboard has been melting for about 3 months and I have no solutions. How do I proceed to do something about this?

The dashboard has become exceedingly sticky. It is very distressing to say the least. A fly got stuck on it the other day and using a kleenex to remove it was a major mistake. However, the most upsetting consequence is the safety hazard created by shiny/reflection onto the windshield that is most concerning. I have inquired at Toyota what can be done and their only recommendation was to use a cleanser made for dashboards. Needless to say, it did not work.

My dashboard is melting and causes a constant glare that obstructs my view while driving. When I told Toyota about this they said it was out of warranty. I have never been contacted by Toyota regarding this is a possibility of happening. Sunshades did not prevent the melting as it gets worse yearly and I use shades daily. Toyota needs to be responsible for fixing because this puts my life as well as others in danger due to the major glare.

My Toyota Camry dashboard is melting, and becoming sticky and gooey.there's a glare that reflects on the windshield from the shiny dashboard, which creates visibility challenges while driving. I was never notified of the recall back in 2014.

Dashboard is starting to melt, crack, chip and become gooey. I have been to the dealership 3 times and on the phone with Toyota customer service 2 times, and they both keep redirecting me to each other. I have expressed concerns about the integrity of the airbags since the dashboard is melting. Toyota is aware of the situation and is refusing to assist in any way. Apparently, there was a recall that has since expired, however I was never notified. This causes great concern for myself and others since this is a known factory defect that Toyota is not addressing with ease or honesty. A melting dashboard is a great safety concern that could have grave consequences.

Drivers side sun visor will not stay up. It has gradually gotten worse to the point it won't stay in up position or fully toward the windshield either. It is really a visibility issue but didn't seem to meet that criteria. I am sure that their was a recall for this some years back, but it is not listed on the NHTSA or Toyota websites.

Dashboard melt - dash when heated by sun or temperature -melts and turns into a glossy glue consistance which reflects on windshield and prohibits sight thru the glare - prevents driver sight and safety paper sticks to it and so does any flying bugs, trash, or other objects it comes in contact with. You cannot see on coming traffic or navigate turns safely.

Toyota is aware that they manufactured this car and others with a defective dashboard. They have already been sued for this. The melted dashboard causes a glare in the window making driving unsafe and people have been in accidents. Plus, the goey dashboard may cause the airbags to fail. Rather than recalling the defective cars and replacing the dashboards on all these cars, Toyota chose to offer a 10 year warranty. First of all, I never received notification of this warranty, but it would not have made any difference if I would have, because the problem occurred in my car 2 months after the 10 year warranty expired. Car brakes wear out, tires need replacing, dash boards are not suppose to melt! I imagine Toyota expects the dashboards to melt in most cars after 10 years and this is why they offered a 10 year warranty. They can now profit from their own manufacturers defect.

My Camry dashboard melted such that it is now reflective like a mirror or glass onto my front window. The glare on the front window is unsafe for clear viewing. This happened after the warranty expired on may of 2018. But, a safety issue caused by a melting of the dashboard should not have a limit to it's necessary repair by Toyota. I have videos of the danger, but your only accepting jpgs below.
