An estimate for fixing it is around $600, and this definitely should be covered by Toyota, as it seems like a manufacturer's flaw.

I have 2009 Toyota Camry with 40000 miles on it. I started hearing soft knocking noise at low speed or when backing up the driveway. When the car is not moving, I can hear this noise too if I turn the steering wheel to the left. However, it doesn't make that noise when I turn the steering wheel to the right. It's very irritating and I'm worried that the problem will become bigger later.
I brought it to the dealer but they said they didn't hear it. I'm going back again soon to show it to the mechanic.
If anybody has solution to this problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance

Has been clunking since driving on a rough washboard road.

There was a clunking noise from the front end while turning at low speeds. It sounded like it was a bad motor mount. I had to have the steering intermediate shaft replaced because the joint was binding.

Steering keeps clunking when I turn and it's so annoying, but I guess I just have to deal with it.
