This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
Apparently a small number of Camry vehicles experience a popping noise from the roof when turning or going over uneven pavement. This can be a fairly small pop or a startling LOUD pop - its severity seeminly random. On my new 2010 SE is started around 15K to 16K miles. The dealer said it had something to do with roof "bowing" coming loose. They claimed it was not a safety issue but merely a nuisance. It will take a week to fix - it is covered by warranty but I imagine this would be expensive if not.

I started experiencing this problem around 50,000 miles. I had a lot of stuff in my trunk (clothes mostly) because I had moved homes, but the popping noise got very loud and only happened when I went on uneven pavement or up or down an incline or driveways. I have NOT had it checked out yet. I made an appointment to see service on Saturday. I will update afterwards. Hopefully it will be under warranty, otherwise I'll just have to deal with the popping!
