Camry

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

2010 Toyota Camry is recall-bait; don't put yourself through it, unless you really enjoy a car that brakes whenever it feels like it, without benefit of brake lights to warn that F-150 on your tail. It also likes to cut out in intersections when you are crossing several lanes of oncoming traffic. Just to be coy it mixes it up and scoots forward when you stop--oodles of fun in school zones. Add to that it is noisy as all get-out.

If you end up in arbitration with this vehicle do not let the fancy technician put the Techstream on during the test drive effectively flashing it for a temporary fix. This is what they did just before you bought it. Can a manufacturer be any more desperate? Toyota will not back up their warranties, PERIOD. They will treat you like dirt. Stay away from this behemoth in its death throes.

Camry LE 2.5L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

Just 3 months ago, I bought what I thought would be a good car but within 2 weeks, the erratic shifting started at speeds under 40 mph. It did not do this when I test drove it or I would certainly not have purchased it. It's been in for service once and the transmission module was updated (service dept said it hadn't been done before I purchased it - even though this was supposedly a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle). They told me it would adjust to my driving. It seemed to be fine for about 2 weeks but is shifting very erratically again to the point I feel like I'll get whiplash and it drives me crazy. I'm now in the market for another car and will not purchase any model Toyota again.

Camry LE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

This car shifts erratically in slow-n-go traffic and in generally slower speeds. It is very annoying! It is something that seems to develop after some amount of driving since; it was not present during my test drive. Otherwise, I would not have bought the car.

Also, the transmission is very “clunky” as it downshifts hard during deceleration. Toyota says it is “acting normal” which means that they consider this to be acceptable performance. The problem is so bad that it has totally ruins the driving experience leading to a very frustrating driving experience. This frustration is compounded by the fact that this is a new car for me and I now have years to pay for it before I can get to a point where I am not upside down on my loan balance.

I am extremely unhappy with this car. Do yourself a favor, if you're considering buying one; don’t! A Toyota is not what it used to be.

Camry LE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,000 miles

this car can not find the right gear to be in at speeds under 40.

Toyota is useless on this problem. It is a computer problem. I have owned 4 Toyota's

this will be my last.

Update from May 14, 2013: The back brakes wore out after 22000 miles. Toyota fixed the bad clip and replaced the pads and turned the rotors for free. This helped with the shifting problem some.

Camry LE 2.5L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

The new 6-speed transmission shifts erratically in slow speed, around town driving! The transmission downshifts harshly when you let off the brake to stop and seem confused most of the time in stop and go driving. On the open highway its fine but when shifting up and down it is very erratic and VERY ANNOYING! It feels like you are not totally in control because it is very inconsistent in the acceleration around town. I HATE driving this car because of this. Dealer says its the way its made. I hope they come up with a TSB soon to smooth out the shifting!
