When the car is not in the sun which is most of the time the dash looks fine. Once I use it the dashboard becomes shiny and sticky and I notice that it is cracking. I never received a notice of a recall or warranty issue. Recently went to the dealer and they did give me any options.

Chatham Parkway Toyota said they are no longer replacing the melting dash boards. I was never sent anything in the mail about replacing the dashboard, and Toyota refuses to fix the problem which is a load of crap.. They should be replacing all of them, not just some of them.

I had a 2002 RAV4 for 10 years - no problem with the dashboard. I wasn't expecting this kind of problem when it seemed that suddenly the dashboard was "melting." It was soft, mushy, and sticky. The dashboard protector that I use during the day when I am out began to stick to the dashboard. When I researched how to fix it, I discovered that other Toyotas have this problem.

I purchased the vehicle as a second owner in May 2018. I contacted several Toyota dealers to let them know of the sticky dash board. To my surprise I was told the VIN for this particular vehicle was not included in the warranted extensions. The initial owner did not report a problem with the dashboard. I contacted the original dealership and they will not discuss the vehicle at all. I contacted the Toyota HQ and filed a complaint. I am not letting this issue go away without a fight. The dashboards are as dangerous today as they were when they were initially reported in 2007. I refused to give a dealership my hard earned dollars for a defective product they are well aware of. It will take another class action suit to get additional action from Toyota, so keep the complaints rolling in. ~Julie

In the process of trying to get it fixed by Toyota under their warranty enhancement program ZE6 - however they have told me that my vin number doesn't qualify or hasn't been included in the group that are covered for replacement despite the fact that it is melting and stick, had the same problem on my 2007 but never had it fixed sold the car with that problem. I am scheduled to go to show the dealer the issue as my 1st step toward documentation with them, I will wait to see what happens next but it makes no sense that they fix for some but not others....

We notice a greasy and shiny dashboard. On Saturday when finally getting ready to clean, shockingly found the sticky dashboard and when touched pieces would get stuck in my nails. Search on google and found this was an issue and covered by Toyota. Called Toyota on Monday and was told their extended warranty ended May 31st, 2017. Today is Tuesday August 22, 2017. Told Toyota that in May when I cleaned and washed my car, my dash boards was perfectly fine. they replied that they were sorry and there was nothing they could do.

Dashboard is shiny and reflects sunlight during the day and bright headlights during the night. It is very difficult to drive. Should we trade in a car that is already paid off. My loss, wish dealer points out all this when purchasing brand new.

At work, school, and everywhere they point out the famous "THE TOYOTA WAY". Their way of management is the best in the world. My take away to manage a company, forget about quality and use cheap materials and don't care about unhappy customers. Toyota should have a 5 year return policy available for all the satisfy customers.

Your hand (and anything else) will stick to it. It is extremely hard to see through the windshield due to the glare of it in the sun. I called Toyota, and they told me that my 2011 is too late of a year and is not covered under the extended warranty. I'm throwing the bs flag.

sticky, melting dashboard sticky, melting dashboard

My dashboard sticks and melts and has pot holes. I researched this problem and found out that they only fixed those customers who were involved in the class action suit. These years were from 2007 through 2009. They continued to sell the Camry and others in following years with the same defect. I have contacted Toyota, thanks to this website, providing the number and registered my complaint. They documented the problem and told me that Toyota will contact me through the mail with authorization for the dealer to fix it or through email. But she did not know when. It seems they wait to see how many complaints they get before they act. It is not a recall but individually extending their warranty. A crock of sh*t. They should make it a recall. No way that anyone is not going to have this problem. The dealer gave estimate of $3,500.00 to $4,000.00 if I have to fix it myself. American Capitalism at its finest sarcastically speaking.

Spoke to Toyota dealership. After much discussion, they will replace dashboard for free, but will not reimburse the labor costs, which is about $400. Car insurance (Geico) refuses to pay for labor, since repair is listed as warranty work.

Toyota dealership has continuously delayed the delivery date of dashboard. It is now scheduled for a Jan-Feb 2017 timeframe.

“The dashboard is so melted I can barely see with the glare. Called Toyota and have taken it to the dealer (3 different ones) and was told that my car was not part of the recall that if I wanted to have it fixed that I would have to pay to have it replaced but they would give me a discount. They have recalled all other Camry’s but not this vin number. This what I call customer service.
