After 100,000 the engine started burning a lot of oil and its really annoying. going to get the oil changed and knowing that there is only 1 qt left of oil. Now recently at 146k miles the engine oil started smelling like gas pretty bad and i don't know what its about.

Took my car to dealership to replace a cam shaft, and after that, trouble started.
After 4000 miles of driving there was no oil left.
Took back to dealership, they filled in new oil and same issue.
Took back for consumption oil check, they told me that it's within normal consumption after 1200 miles, I know that they do lie. I do not know if this is a just an issue with Camry engines or something was damaged by dealer.

This car has been losing oil and exhibiting excessive oil consumption to the point where I have to replace the oil on an almost daily basis in order to drive my vehicle. It is my belief, and the conclusion of many mechanics who have inspected the engine, that the flaw in the engine in my 2011 Toyota Camry is identical to the flaw in the engine described in Toyota’s manufacturer’s service bulletin for 2007-2009 Toyota Camrys.Â
I went to 4 mechanics, two toyota service centers, and each mechanic has been surprised by this issue, passed it around their shops to see if anyone knew what could go wrong, and says there is no solution barring a $3000-4000 minimum cost to open up the engine and see what could be the issue.
At one toyota center, the shop foreman told me it was just something I had to deal with and they didn't end up charging me for the service. I was grateful at the time to not be charged, but now I'm realizing this was Toyota's way of covering up their issues, not charging so they don't have to take responsibility for their flawed vehicle. I have seen numerous complaints online about the same issue, and it's obvious that they want to cover their own backs and act like its no big deal until I give up and deal with it out of pocket. Unfortunately for Toyota, I have an abundance of time to devote to this complaint, equal to the amount of time I have had to spend adding oil to my car in subzero temperatures for the past months.
This is a classic ans systematic coverup of a manufacturing flaw. Ironically, I am in an MBA program and we have been reviewing Toyota's quality control and insistence on maintaining a proactive stance on defective vehicles. This is my first toyota, and spontaneous oil consumption issues are bad enough without the company denying the claims and acting shadily to circumvent reparations. I know exactly how brand reputation works, and I am a small business owner with my own web design and marketing company. I'd absolutely love to launch a smear campaign so Toyota feels some stings about this issue. As far as I can see, the company is trying to mask a clear flaw to pinch pennies. The vehicle is defective and the company needs to acknowledge that and compensate the customers who have been negatively impacted.

Having the oil changed on regular basis and now they are telling me I have to check the oil every two weeks on my own. Not their problem. I have never heard of this without the car having significant problems. I don't understand why Toyota has not addressed this on these 2011 Camry vehicles.

Took car for routine oil change. Found out I had only 20 percent of oil it was just time for oil change. Found out that Toyota had some oil consumption problem that had ended on 10/31/2016. It was nothing that dealership could do. I was told I had engine damage from excessive oil consumption and needed a new engine.

Toyota is really not trying to fix the oil consumption issue ! I noticed right after the free maintenance ended the oil issue because I had the car service the away from the Dealer that I oil was low every time between oil changes
My family has been buying Toyota for over 40 years , if they do not fix this issue. I believe and will make sure the 40 yr relationship will end.

My 2011 Toyota Camry begun stalling at about 68,000 miles due to the excessive oil consumption. I religiously change the oil every 10,000 miles, but this time even didn't make it to the next oil change. I am closely monitoring the oil consumption, so I don't burn the motor. I am not sure why Toyota will fix the excessive oil consumption problem in 2008 Toyota Camry but not 2011. While trying to save the money on recall and fixing the problems with the burning oil, Toyota is losing its reputation. This is all after replacing the struts about 2 years ago, having problems with the engine due to some plastic part floating in the oil pan, replacing the sway bar... I think my next car is going to be Honda!

My wife drives this car and she relies on me to maintain her vehicle. This issue caused tension due to it seeming like I didn't do my job.

Have owned many Toyotas without an oil consumption problem.

I took it to Atlanta Toyota. They said less than 1qt oil consumption every 1200 miles is normal.
They do not apply powertrain warranty to this issue.
One mechanic I know told me 2.4 liter Toyota engine had been notorious for this engine oil consumption problem.
Please avoid buying any Toyota vehicle with this engine up to 2011.

I love my vehicle make and model but in the last 2 years I almost lost about a quart of full synthetic oil between oil changes. In the last 3 months it has risen to more oil burned. I have to add minimum a quart of oil each week. It's not leaking oil from anywhere, as a matter of fact I had Toyota dealership do my last oil change. I was hoping that if something was wrong they would've brought it up to my attention...like oil leakage, etc.
I took the car to different mechanics and explained my situation, they said to add Lucas oil Stabilizer...that it should help. Well I'm very skeptical about adding anything other than my regular synthetic oil to my engine. I just want to see what other options I have out there. 2 mechanics told that I will need to open up the engine and get issue fixed ($4,000.00 average) parts and labor. This problem started when I was about 120,000 miles now I'm over 151,000 mark.
