Camry LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission

Just left a friend's house at around 5pm on a normal temperature day (approx. 50 degrees)... pulled up to a red light where two other cars were already stopped at... no cars behind me or passing in any direction... no people around at all (very quiet street)... was getting ready for my drive home, turning on the radio and adjusting my rear view mirror... as I was adjusting my read view mirror, the rear window popped and began to shatter across the entire window... I got out and found nothing around the car that could of hit it and there was no one in site... as I began to drive, the entire window collapsed into the car... I drove home with no rear window and fortunately it was not raining (a 50 min drive)... in my mind, the window shattered for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON --- other than it was defective in some manufacturing manner.

Replaced the window the next car at my expense ($535) and a week later brought it to Toyota to complain and for them to assess... to no avail... their assessment is that they cannot assess the window because it is no longer there to assess (remarkable idiotic response, but I do not have a leg to stand on)... so off I go to google research and found several similar complaints -- hence, me joining up with this website and posting my incident... I will continue to pursue with Toyota until they reimburse me for the window.
