About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
The seatbelt doesn't click into place and the sensor doesn't show anyone sitting in the seat which shows the airbag is off. Very unsafe if in an accident.

The molding at windshield holding side air bags is detaching from windshield on passanger side. There has been no damage to vehicle that would cause this.

Drivers' side seat belt fails to retract completely unless "coaxed." This leads to it being inadvertently blocking the door from closing. This began at or about 45,000 miles. This is abnormal for a seatbelt, in my experience, and is a safety hazard. My 1991 GMC S-15 still has no problem retracting belts, with 243,000 miles on it. Given this condition, the SRS system of the seatbelt locking is questionable!!! dealer service writer claimed repair/replacing defective retractor is at my expense.

My 2012 Camry hybird with leather seats. My problem seems to be related to the weight of the previous occupant, ie, if over 200 lbs and it will probably work correctly. But if the exited occupant was less than 200 lbs, the air bag will alarm and message for the (former occupant) passenger to use the seat belt. I'm trying to get Toyota to correct the problem but they warn me that I may have to pay to correct something that never occured before their recall.

When driving on a road and hitting a big pothole the SRS light in the dashboard might light up and stay on as well as the seat belt restraint light. The vehicle was brought once before to the service facility of Toyota and this issue got fixed, when I asked the service staff why is that happening the answer was: "if you drive in a big pot hole the connection to the sensor that is located underneath the front passenger seat might become loose which requires to be connected again and re-calibrated. While having this issue the front passengers airbag might not deploy as the light on the middle console states that the passenger airbag is currently turned off even if the passenger is sitting in the seat and is restraint. To me it sounds as a big safety issue which should not happen just because of a pot hole.

Noticed that the air bag light is on constantly, the seat belt light keeps flashing and the passenger air bag light is always off even if a heavy adult is sitting in it. The seat belt light keeps flashing always. Noticed this but thought as most times drive alone thought that as there is no passenger in the passenger seat most of the times and attributed the cause of the flashing seat belt light for that.but now know that this is definitely a safety issue.
