I just bought a new 2014 Camry LE Value pkg with some accessories and the heated seat accessory was going to be added by the dealership that salesman told me. All the brochures show the switches in the centre console in front of the drink holders and gear changer. I figured there was a pop out plate there to do the work at the dealership.... NOT THE CASE! The dealership fix ... put a hole in the side of the front seats where the door opens and place the switch there. To say the least I can't turn on/off the passenger seat while driving and the driver side it's a tight fit to get your hand down between the door and seat. I've asked the salesman to order a replacement centre console with the switch plate in the right location and he's come back to say the Service Manager says the part isn't available. I say BS and go to the Parts department to get it ordered. I told the salesman I was fine waiting for the car coming from the factory when they found this one at another dealership or in transit. If the salesman would have said where the switches were going to be I would have told him not to proceed or I would wait. I should have looked the car over before signing any paperwork. I reminded the salesman the Customer is ALWAYS right! I just wanted what I saw in the brochure.....simple! So fix it!
Update from Mar 31, 2014: After doing some inquires with the Salesman, I come to find out that Toyota uses different wiring harnesses for the different models of Camry due to standard accessories. Since adding the 'Heated Seats' option would be an after market thing in the LE model the wiring harness doesn't support having the switches in the brochure location and must be wired in differently. I was given the option of having the relocated switches put either above or below the shifter. I chose to have them below the shifter because when you are driving and would like to flick the heated switch on/off the shifter would be in the way if the switches were located above. After getting my Camry back the switches are right at my finger tips when my arm is resting on the arm rest making it very convenient to access.
