This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle. Bought used with only 10xxx miles on it. We had a full 109-point inspection, everything passed with flying colors. We had the oil filter replaced & the oil changed during the 15,000 routine check-up (done a little late @16k miles) and two days later the check engine light is on.
AutoZone said it was pulling the O2 sensor code. Thankfully I purchased an extended warranty through CarShield when I bought the car, but it really irked me that this is needing to be done on a vehicle so new. What is going on Toyota?? We've had your vehicles all our lives and we finally splurge on a newer vehicle and we get stupid problems like this....

I am beginning to think this is a problem with the 2014 Toyota Camry at about 6,000 km. I have an appointment at the dealership May 21, 2014 and will ask them then. I hope they can help as I need a reliable care.

Traded in my used 2004 VW Passat, because of annoying electrical problems, for a new 2014 Toyota Camry SE because of it's reliability. So far the gas consumption has been much better compared to the VW. The one thing really concerning me is once I got my vehicle to 5000 miles I took it in (as told) to get an oil change. Mind you the check engine light was on. They said nothing was wrong and an oil change was really not that necessary until the 10000 mile mark.
Well I'm at the 6200 mile mark and again the engine light is back on. What's funny is that not once did the VW have the check engine light since I had it and with this car it's only been 4 to 5 months. I did explain to them that I took two long trips, they said "congrats, hope you enjoyed the drive".

My car is 3years and 3 months old with 35,591km on it and the O2 Sensor packs up! I'm out of my 3 year or 60,000km warranty by only 3 months.
Diagnostic $109 plus tax - To find what set off the Check Engine Light Off New O2 Sensor $228.20 plus tax 1 Hr Labor to install $109 plus tax
All said and done the total $504.21 with tax
Note The dealership cleared the code and when I got my car the 'Check Engine Light' was still off. The Sensor is on order, but we will see if the light stays off or I will have to book the appointment for the repair. At the moment I'm only out the initial diagnostic.
Update from Mar 3, 2018: After writing this complaint and the dealership asking how my last service call went where I mentioned the details of how upset I was to have an engine light come on at so lower mileage the dealership offered to replace the sensor at no charge. After the O2 sensor was replaced it was explained to me that the sensor was covered in rust proofing undercoat ( I've been having Krown Rust proofing done each year) and this caused the sensor to malfunction. I was told that Toyota would honor the replacement but if I continued to get the rust proofing and it happened again that I would have to cover the next cost. So, my choice is to stop rust proof my car or risk having another sensor go? I would think the rust proofing would protect the sensor and not impede it's performance. This is when you need to have a mechanic friend.
