I was driving a 2016 toyota Camry (which was a rental car). I was driving about 75 mph on the highway when i set the cruise control. It took me a few seconds to realize the car was increasing in speed. When i pushed on the brakes it felt like they were disengaged and as if the gas pedal was stuck to the floor. I was approaching a speed of 100 mph. The engine would revving up and then it would feel like it died and then it would rev up even higher. Quite honestly i was freaking out. I just started pushing buttons and finally the cruise light when off and the brakes started working again. So if you set the cruise control the only way to disengage it is to push it again? Pushing the brakes doesn't work?? Is this a "new" feature?!?! VERY DANGEROUS. I hope somebody looks into this. I see i am not the only one to complain of this problem. I'm just thankful my end result wasn't a fractured sternum. Come on Toyota....this NEEDS fixed!
