Problem: Spots of rust were noted on the hinges of gas cap cover. This is a 2018 Camry SXE, 4cyl. Vehicle was purchased 6 months ago (12/1/2017). The problem became obvious when I went to pump Gas. Dealership claimed it was not a safety issue and was Not Covered by Warranty. Vehicle was stored 1/2 time in garage; obviously moisture got behind cover. Dealership offered to apply touch-up paint; as this would be out-of-pocket expense, I said I will do it myself. Instead, I used penetrating oil and a Q-tip to remove rust. This seems to work. But I will have to check this every few months.
I still love the car but something like this should not appear on a brand new vehicle. Dealership did not seem too concerned.
